Economic growth
[Read the article: Lies, damn lies and Bill O'Reilly]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hell, even I've known for the last 20 years that when the news is talking about economic growth they're not talking about the workers and everyday citizens of the country.
Economic growth to the ruling elite today is if big business grows...
They would consider it growth - if they make billions and 100 million Americans were living on the streets.

Majority held hostage
[Read the article: What small-town America is saying about Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Since the turn of the 20th century people have migrated from rural areas.
Seriously, national elections need to find a way to represent the majority.
I'm tired of being held hostage to 19th century ideals that were Bullshit to begin with. And I grew up in a very small town in the middle of the country.

@no-the-other-left
[Read the article: The culture war: It's back!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Absolutely...the Repubs have no intention of getting rid of Roe V. Wade when it can always be used to turn out what I like to call "Moral Fascist"...
Look, if you think abortion isn't moral. DON'T HAVE ONE.
Damnit, the law is not MAKING people have abortions. If that was the case the anti-abortionist would have a point.
They need to take care of their Biz.

Interest Rate Caps
[Read the article: We are all radical regulators, now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's more rip off.
Until they regulate lower caps on interest rates, instead of the criminal gauging of consumers and small businesses, they reap mega profits and then when the debt becomes so outrageous because of the mounting usuary interest rates they charege turn that over to the taxpayer, scream for government bailouts, when they didn't have to jack interest rates to the point of bankrupting people and could have gotten their money eventually?
(30% IS BS...they should be capped - 15% no higher and they would make money and let these institutions scale down in size).
-
Renters
[Read the article: How much is toxic debt worth?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Renters should be excluded from any tax increases attributed to mortgage bailout.
-
Crisis my Ass
[Read the article: Will McCain's gamble pay off?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Now, all of that won't be any help to him if the public at large becomes -- and remains -- convinced that this was a political ploy..."
Excuse me, but this mortgage issue has been going on nearly two years and they wait about a month before the election to declare a "disaster".
It has EVERYTHING to do with the election.

It can be dealt with
[Read the article: George Bush's insurmountable challenge]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In 2009.
Please start packing Bush and all your administration.
Take McCain and Palin with you.
-
All a stunt and a setup
[Read the article: House Republicans say no deal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]All of them should say no to this deal and come up with something AFTER the Bush Administration has packed and left.
The country can survive 3 months...even if they have to give 30 billion directly to the people (the Dems out to say: go with our changes to the proposal or we'll ram thru a bill that gives money directly to the people of this country). Nothing scares the conservatives and neo-cons more than the people of this country actually getting money they can't get their GRUBBY hands on.
Get some balls Congress

Govt development & Alt energy
[Read the article: A debate for sobering times]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When Brokaw asked if the candidates were in favor of a Manhattan like project to develop Alt energy or funding hundreds of entreprenuers across country to develop these forms of energy:
Did I hear McCain say that he was for pouring billions of tax dollars into research and development of Alt energy then turning over the Alt energy plans developed to private industry?
Say it isn't so. If they government pours billions of tax payer dollars into Alt Energy development, these should stay govt. jobs.
Otherwise, only one or two energy companies (really think they'll stop monolopies on Alt energy?) will be selling us alt energy at OUTRAGEOUS prices after we've already paid for it's development thru taxes.
-
Panic?
[Read the article: Dow disaster -- down nearly 700 points]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is just a reality check.
Most of the crap people were investing in wasn't worth...well, crap to begin with.
Somebody needs to have the balls to say this is what it was all really worth to begin with.
-
It's really...
[Read the article: $700 billion: Blink, and it's gone]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The big heist on the way out.
And make sure there's nothing there for anyone who might want to : spend money by giving it to citizens (non-corporate entities)in any way.

Most undecideds
[Read the article: Why Obama has to stay above 50 percent]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In this particular election, the choices are different enough, for me to believe that most truly undecided people AREN'T VOTING.
