  • CNN Forum

[Read the article: Are we now officially a Christian nation?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Where were the critisms for John McCain not attending the open forum he was invited to by CNN?

    Obama and Clinton showed up.

Seems to me no one really cares what McCain's views are so he can keep his answers short and silly...

These are all really Forums on Obama and he should say enough with the double standard and clearly state why.

  • Whatever happens at the convention

[Read the article: A pre-convention memo to Hillary Clinton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Or whatever happened in the past...

The point of the article is that it's actually in Clinton's best interest at this point if Obama wins the Presidency.

The reason being is the elephant in the room that everyone dances around and doesn't really want to talk about too much.

  • Help from Friends and Family

[Read the article: Our cupboard was bare]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Unless your friends and family are better off than yourself, and even if they are somewhat better off, there's usually a limit to the help they can provide.

How many millionaires do you know hanging out with the poor (except slumming at some club)?

The point of the article is that working people are in serious trouble and that wages in this country need to increase.

Too bad a country built on slave wages can't figure out a way to make capitalism work without slave wages, but we shouldn't be all that surprised. Turns out slavery doesn't have any racial bounds.

And not everybody wants to be an entrepreneur or own their business, much less get the start up money...and I bet there are many small business owners at these soup kitchens as well.

On another note, we must love and care for the children that are here, I understand that - but we need to realize that having multiple children is a luxury (not a right) in this country and in an economy like this and planned parenthood is more important than ever.

"...This is what make most people loathe feminism: HYPOCRISY! We are to feel every nuance of female lives and ignore even the hugest of male issues.

What makes having a vagina the determining factor in custody awards? Who say uterians "own" kids? What about kids' needs for dads? What about fathers who love their kids and are kept from them?"

    Right.

I understand your anger. That's why women need to repeat over and over to themselves and their daughters the words of one self-help guru (I thought it was funny and right on point):

A MAN IS NOT A FINANCIAL PLAN.

True, neither men nor women should not be denied roles or custody rights in their children's lives, unless the physical and/or emotional safety of the child is at risk. But women have to be prepared to be able to handle more of the financial load for children when relationships go south and both parents should plan better.

    That's the next revolution:

The Single people revolt. Single people are PAYING FOR EVERYTHING...

  • I Love the 80s

Please, let the McCain campaign bring up Biden in the 80s.

    Segue to:

  • Next time you go to the airport...

[Read the article: Joe Biden and the political establishment's overriding goal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Next time you go to the airport, refuse to take off your shoes.

See, we have all been compromised.

If you really believe there is no threat, do not take off your shoes.

Afraid of what might happen? No flight? Arrest?

But it's time to stand up...RIGHT?!?!

Quite a trick bag to be in whether in Congress or not.

  • Obama's run

[Read the article: Joe Biden and the political establishment's overriding goal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Also, I'm thinking that the biggest factor about Obama running is that it will encourage others, more progressive, to find a way to break through. Even if he's not POTUS.

The only thing is that the next wave will have to be figuring out a way to support a candidate.

This is going on half a billion dollars that Americans are spending, to compete with the corporations, in an attempt to get representation.

  • MO speech

[Read the article: What'd you think of Michelle Obama's speech?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Touching. Especially about her ill father still struggling with illness, but would walk across a room in pain, on crutches, just to give his wife a kiss.

    The daughters closed the sale.

The youngest is ready to start her public career and you can tell they both love their dad very much.

The older one kept moving closer to the screen he was on to look at him.

Kristol comments on FOX proved that he is a true, heartless fascist.

Just thought I'd throw that in.

[Read the article: How Michelle Obama nailed it]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If Cindy McCain had given the exact same speech....

That's why it worked so well.

Cindy McCain could NEVER give the exact same speech.

It was a story about coming up from not having much, working hard, etc...you know all that stuff that's used to define the heartline Americans.

The McCains are children of privilege.

  • Michelle speech is dangerous to the McCain camp

[Read the article: Isn't she lovely?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

All the right wing, neo-con, and racists folks are doing everything they can to remain in denial and the people who listen to them. It's not terrorists that are a threat to the US. This culture of denial will do it in.

Everything that goes around comes around and there's no escaping it. And your fear is the knowing that your time of reckoning can NOT be avoided.

But the speech was dangerous to the McCain camp because it kills them that the Obama's actually grew up like most Americans....

So they try to ignore and deny.

As I said on another post:

It worked so well because Cindy McCain could NEVER have given this speech.

The McCains are children of privelege.

    Barack Obama

  • Obama is not that dangerous

[Read the article: The right dictates MSNBC's programming decisions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Wow, Obama is not that dangerous to the status quo...they are after something beyond this status quo:

The complete fascist take over of this country...with the old dying in the streets and people of other religions persecuted.

Be prepared also (with the continued neo-con attack) to see the debtor prisons brought back into being.

    Hello, American slaves.
