  • We must continue to complain (PT 2)

[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Using the analogy of Rosemary's Baby, should also mention this to those who may not have seen the movie:

The husband sells out Rosemary to the satanic cult by agreeing to drug her so that the "devil" can impregnate her one night.

A good portion of the movie, you're even wondering if what happened to her was just a dream and if she's just imagining something is wrong within her and the people around her (as her husband and other establishment types - such as the doctor and the old, friendly neighbors try to do.)

  • US taxpayer subsidized global middle class

[Read the article: Triumph of the global middle class]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Of course this global middle class was subsidized by US taxpayers...remember those tax breaks to business that took their manufacturing and production overseas?

Also, $5 to $10 an hour in Indonesia may make many of them feel like Oprah.

  • Please...MORE McCain coverage

[Read the article: New McCain video: "Obama Love"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You have to read between the lines of what the McCain camp is saying...

McCain's coverage is increasing, it's just not positive. When they weren't saying much about McCain at all, the campaign actually seemed more content with that. Make it a referendum on Obama.

They don't want to say McCain gets more negative coverage than Obama because that opens up more discussions about the negatives.

You have to understand, if the media didn't cover Obama's every word...then the McCain campaign and pundits would argue Obama's getting a free pass.

Also, wasn't this same "media" angle played out in the primary of Obama vs. Clinton?

  • @elephantman

[Read the article: Obama's grand tour]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Still more questions and accountability than ever demanded of McCain.

Again, McCain is getting plenty of coverage...it's just not the positive "Maverick" label BS he's grown accustomed to.

If they didn't cover Obama, the McCain camp and pundits would say he's getting a "free pass" .

And there's a hint of: "We need to keep our eye on this young upstart" in the media coverage of Obama.

McCain wasn't covered because they "trusted" him to tow the status quo lines. These corporations demanded a watchful eye out on Obama.

  • What about the treatment of the press by McCain

[Read the article: Obama's grand tour]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Weren't they reporting just last week that McCain had become much less accessible to the press???

So McCain discourages the press set up the ads this week complaining about Obama's press...

Are our memories supposed to be that short?

  • Again, no news is good news for McCain

  • Military Spending

[Read the article: Obamanomics to the rescue]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Our out-of-control military spending. We spend more than all the other developed nations combined on the military. This needs to change drastically."

This is the unspoken, politically unpopular plan...give Afghanistan a year tops?

Then pull back and that's exactly where the money will come from.

  • The MS Press Likes Dirt

[Read the article: Waving the flag on Iraq -- now in rerun!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm beginning to think that Obama camp needs to get in the trenches with there ads...with the truth.

    The Economy:

Draw a line straight from Gramm/Keating/Ken Lay to McCain to deregulation to S&L collapses to Enron to the lines outside IndyMac.

    The War:

Get some clips of Iraqi Parliament talking about US troop withdrawal and timeline.

The debates, we hope people will watch for themselves. However, I fear most will listen to the pundits frame their thoughts on the debates...and we know how that goes.

  • Vegas

[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Anyone else thinking they might just want to yank out all their 401K and go to Vegas and work the black jack tables?

You'd get about the same results as on Wall Street.

And this is called an economy?

A country that makes next to nothing and you're considered a titan of finance through betting on consumer spending (which is the real economy)?

  • Stable economy

[Read the article: This Modern World]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

A stable economy might just be capitalism...only you make money from exactly what you sell. If your product is good and wanted it sells and your profits from that is what you have to work with.

Then you would have an economy that is based truly on supply and demand.

Take out the speculators. We don't need Wall Street to have an economy or capitalism (and definately not to have Democracy).

  • Suicide

[Read the article: Vital unresolved anthrax questions and ABC News]

Guess he wanted to join the DC Madam...

    Again, how convenient.

  • 13 percent

[Read the article: 87 percent of Fox News viewers plan to vote McCain]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The other 13 percent are just keeping their enemies close.

  • Obama Supporters

[Read the article: 87 percent of Fox News viewers plan to vote McCain]

The Iowa Caucus came first...that's what gave Obama the big jump.

Bush and anyone like him had to go. That's all people knew.

Hillary came in 3rd, which showed some weaknesses in the campaign early and people were like...better check out this Obama guy.

  • One was invented in the 60s

[Read the article: Why don't we have a male pill yet?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

At the same time as the Woman's pill was developed.

  • The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

[Read the article: Putin's war enablers: Bush and Cheney]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Whether the United States was actively involved in the attempted coup in 2002 against Hugo Chavez, the democratically elected president of Venezuela, or merely cheered it on, it is clear that Venezuelan popular sovereignty meant nothing to Bush if it resulted in a government unfriendly to and critical of Washington."

  • Spiritual Enlightenment & Naivete

    [Read the article: Get Rielle]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Rielle forgot the first and oldest rule about spiritual enlightenment:

Be careful what you wish for.

Sounds like she always wanted to be famous and if you want something bad enough, and you are persistent, you'll get it. That's why you have to be very specific. It's a story as old as Aladdin and the Magic Lamp.

This story pisses off many, but I have to admit, it makes me glad that the truth is out. The naivete of John Edwards in this situation is not a quality people should want in a POTUS. No matter what kind of midlife or personal crisis he may have been going through, they would be nothing to the potential crises a president may face. Now he's in a trick bag. Big statement about judgement.

It strikes me as different from the Clinton scandal, because Monica seemed more the naive one and Clinton remained in a posistion of power in the relationship. At least that's the way it seems from the little I remember of it.
