Between A Rock and a Hard Place
[Read the article: Hoyer hails FISA bill as "a significant victory for the Democratic Party"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes...people labeled liberal and/or progressive are between a rock and a hard place.
You know, I'd been getting campaign donation requests just about everyday from Obama campaign. I would send something each time - about three donations in July.
Then last week, I hit reply instead of donating and expressed my concern about FISA.
I got replies to tell me where to send questions about policy and where to look up his stances online.
I haven't got another request for donations.
Then I hear today that the Senator is in Hollywood. Big fundraiser with the stars.
So he's hearing many of you. And this is the reply.
I'll vote for him anyway...if it just buys more time before the bitter end of the Constitution.

[Read the article: Hoyer hails FISA bill as "a significant victory for the Democratic Party"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If Obama is successful in leading a filibuster to block telecom immunity, then I will donate $100 immediately to the Campaign, and will attempt to donate more $ later.
Please, PLEASE let Mr. Obama know my extreme disappointment in his announcement of support for the FISA compromise. It's simply a cave-in to Bush, he of 28% approval rating.

Appreciate your activism....
Check my post...people have been doing that or things along the lines of what you're saying.
Obama has answered: In LA today. Big Fundraiser. With the Stars.

The Audacity of Hope
[Read the article: The baseless, and failed, "move to the center" cliche]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]None of this would be surprising after a careful reading of Sen. Obama's 2nd book - "The Audacity of Hope".
In this book, Obama recognizes and talks about everything that has been said in the column and by people on the blogs here. There's a whole chapter on his musings about the constitution.
The most impressive thing about the book is that it has a copywright 2006 but touches on many of the players and issues in this year's election, including the media coverage.
He saw it all coming.
Last week, The Huffingtonpost had a headline about Christian conservatives being shocked that Obama was targeting evangelicals in his campaign. In "Audacity", Obama clearly states that Dems should never have let the right define the terms of the values and faith debates.
Among the least impressive things about the book is the fawning over the likes of Sen. Boyd (former KKK member)of West Virginia. According to Obama, if we met the man we would understand how sorry Sen. Boyd is about all that.
Where does he stand on the issues?
Throughout the book, he points out that his mother was very much a liberal of the early 60s variety. Passionate, naive, and compassionate...basically, liberals remind him of his mother. As I read, however, I felt as if I was being set up for the compromises to come. Could it be Obama wants to be the Lincoln in the civil war between the right and the left?
Sen. Obama is a man of vision, but I really couldn't tell you how he will ultimately use it.
Read for yourself and decide for yourself.

RELIGIOUS SCHOOLS
[Read the article: The Obama campaign's past two weeks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"unveiled plans "to expand President Bush's program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and -- in a move sure to cause controversy . . . letting religious charities that receive federal funding consider religion in employment decisions," a move that could "invite a storm of protest from those who view such faith requirements as discrimination" -- something not even the Bush faith programs allowed.""
OMG !!!
This is the BS that in the Middle East has given us fanatics like the Taliban.
Hopefully you parents out there will have more options for your children.
I fear for the future of this nation.

RELIGIOUOS SCHOOLS
[Read the article: The Obama campaign's past two weeks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Per my previous post, I'm not suggesting that Obama will fund Islamic Fascist religious organizations in America....
But...I'm so, so glad I didn't have to bow down to ANYTHING in order to get an education.

@ Chris Sinnard
[Read the article: The Obama campaign's past two weeks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]See my follow-up post...
Because I knew someone would think I was saying Obama would fund Islamic Fascist schools....
I'm just saying: I hope the funding for non-religious oriented schools doesn't suffer and those funds increase as well.

More on Religious Schools...Clarification
[Read the article: The Obama campaign's past two weeks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]" unveiled plans "to expand President Bush's program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and -- in a move sure to cause controversy . . . letting religious charities that receive federal funding consider religion in employment decisions," a move that could "invite a storm of protest from those who view such faith requirements as discrimination" -- something not even the Bush faith programs allowed. ""
No matter what the religion, nobody should have to bow down to anyone or thing to get an education.
It's important that education of non-religious schools get increases in their funding as well and should not suffer. And I'm pretty sure that Obama is not meaning he will propose cuts to other school funding and give it to religious oriented schools.
To be perfectly clear: whether the fanatics are Islamic or Christian or whatever- it's the same result.
