Bitter to the bone
[Read the article: Bitter as hell in Pennsylvania]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]People like me who are bitter and cling to stuff are also damn proud of it.
Don't tell me I'm not bitter, Lou Dobbs. I'll wipe that grin off your fat face.
Why do some of us hate Hillary? Its because we're bitter. I personally don't like Hispanics. There are plenty of individual hispanics that I like, but I don't like them, as a group.
Why? because someone stole stuff from my yard once, and I blame them.
The Bitters are a swing vote. Some of them voted for Bush originally because they were sick of hearing about Clinton's junk. Some like me mostly never vote.
Hey, we're not the smartest tools in the shed. But candidates, ignore us at your peril.

The Double Standard
[Read the article: Obama, get ready for the "Clinton rules"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So true.
The press adopts these ridiculous narratives for democrats and then keeps playing them.
We shouldn't elect Al Gore because he is stiff, and boring. Whaaat?
We shouldn't elect Kerry because he windsurfs and is elitist. Whaat?
We shouldn't elect Clinton because she is a liar, and a bitch. Whaat?
We shouldn't elect Obama because he is anti-american and a muslim. Whaat?
I am glad people are finally crying "Enough!".

Its understandable
[Read the article: Media's refusal to address the NYT's "military analyst" story continues]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Of course the mainstream media isn't going to make a deal about this. They only make themselves look bad.
It is up to people to understand what is going on, and hopefully hold the media to task.
It amazes me that people actually pay for cable. I don't imply that you should steal cable, just cancel that crap.
Also, Obama gave Hillary the Finger!

Buck up, pussies.
[Read the article: A pivotal day for the Democrats?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why do democrats always enjoy screwing themselves, and then whining about it?
They've had plenty of opportunities to curtail the war, stand up to president Bush, etc. But they lacked the balls. Their excuse was, we need a Dem president, we don't want to jeopardize our chances.
I'd rather have Obama than Clinton for sure. Clinton is pure distilled opportunist.
But I have my doubts that Obama will survive, given the atmosphere in this country. We don't want to work together. Fuck that.
Why isn't Donald Trump running? He'd be perfect.

Pro-Israel?
[Read the article: Finding Obama guilty of insufficient devotion to Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The debate about Israel is always framed before it even starts. So, being pro-Israel always means agreeing with the hard-right on every political position. If you do not, then you are not pro-Israel. There can be no nuance.
Also, this equation always holds:
Criticism of Israeli policies = anti semite
(Notice how if you criticize the government in the U.S., then you are anti-American. )
Does every American Jew truly believe that sowing destruction in the Middle East is always in the best interest of Israel?
Doubtful. But we always hear only one side.

How interesting..
[Read the article: The battle against spoiled milk]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]to see how Iraqis really live. They seem almost forgotten by much of the world. Yet there they are still, just trying to get by.

xeroid47 gets it right
[Read the article: The China syndrome]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Remember when evaluating the advancement of cultures, to place it in the proper scope of time.
While western culture has reached a peak in the past couple of hundred years, it has recently begun to start sliding slowly backwards.
Our political system (being dominated by special interests and opinions being manipulated by media) is showing its age.
Our economic system (with the development of ever more complex financial instruments and reliance on debt) is showing its flaws as well.
Our industrial and transportation infrastructure (driven by oil) is just beginning to be affected.
Yet we are still smug in the assurance that we are the "greatest civilization on earth". Or perhaps, the greatest civilization, ever.
Some of the comments I see -- that Chinese are genetically unable to innovate because they have been selected over millennium to be conformists -- wow.
All I can say is, you don't know the Chinese. The first thing you do if you want to surpass another culture, is copy everything they do right, improve on it, and sell it back to them. The Chinese understand this -- at the molecular level.

One of the new class
[Read the article: Joe Lieberman, ideological turncoat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Joe and John are actually a good fit. They both have broken from their parties and staked out independent positions. If it works out, it may become a trend.
Why are people bothered that Joe is pro-Israel? He's jewish, ain't he? All our Iraqi senators are pro-Iraq, so it balances out. Heh.
Obama has not done a good job of explaining his position, in "talking to our enemies".
The pre-condition, w.r.t Iran, is suspension of Ur enrichment.
It's simple. Iran will not give that up without something in return. Such as a promise that they not be invaded, nuked, embargoed, sactioned, etc.
The position of the U.S. is like one of a pre-teenage girl. We're still using the silent treatment. One day, we'll grow up.

The administration that should have united Arab-Americans
[Read the article: John McCain's Arab-American problem]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Half of my extended family is Arab, and my brother-in-law voted for Bush, the first term. He really doesn't know anything about politics or issues, he only knows that he is a conservative, or thinks he is.
So he voted for Bush. That honestly is not that uncommon. Why?? I guess for the same reason that poor white rednecks vote for Republicans. He is an Arab redneck.
For some reason, a lot of my Arab relations don't have the same affinity to what is happening in Iraq. It bothers me more, even tho I'm Czech/Irish. Go figure.
My wife, who is much more progressive than most of the rest of her family, thinks that Arabs are not going to unite politically anytime soon. So the article is probably right. Mcain will lose the Arab vote only if he offends some groups. Not because of U.S. foreign policy, and the promotion of anti-Arab views by the U.S. Doesn't make any sense to me. But then, I'm thinking logically, not religiously.
