  • Hate is in the Air

[Read the article: The GOP's cheerful viciousness]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The letters are getting less substantative, and a lot more angry.

    Why?

Sarah Palin, a woman, obviously doesn't let others define who she is. She demonstrated that last night.

Were she not a Republican, she'd be considered a strong feminist.

...The salonistas snarling in the corner.

  • Obama: Surge Succeeded Beyond ‘Wildest Dreams’

[Read the article: The GOP's cheerful viciousness]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Now that obama has conceded that the surge has been successful, I want to remind the salonista faithfull that your man apparently doesn't agree with many of you (link below)

I recall several months ago, salonistas claiming that the surge had failed. Some salonoids didn't claim failure, they just moved the goalposts or changed some vocabulary, in an effort to save face.

    Prior to the claim that the surge had failed, I remember liberals declaring that;

    1) Iraq would not hold elections.

    2) Iraq would not form a constitution.

    3) "This war is lost and cannot be won" - harry (the dunce) reid

    4) General Patreus had "betrayed us"...many of you thought that slanderous ad from moveon.org was justified.

So let me guess, your next proclamation regarding what is going to happen, and how we should respond to it, will be correct.

The surge worked? Yes to FISA? . . . ouch.

  • Parikh - make an appointment

[Read the article: Sarah Palin's choice]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This is one of the lamest arguments I have read at salon. I thought doctors were supposed to be smart.

Starting with paragraph 1, the ridiculous rumor from the Daily Kos is repeated. Parikh, don't pretend to respect anyone; Sarah Palin, her family, or the people that read your post, by repeating that garbage. And the "rumor" is, clearly, garbage.

A hypocrite is one whose actions do not follow their beliefs. Sarah Palin's belief is that a human fetus should be protected, it should not be terminated, aborted. Had she aborted Trig, she would be a hypocrite.

Challenge: Try applying parikh's stupid argument to other activities.

Some in the goverment want to deny me the "choice" of caryying a gun. If those that seek this legislation choose not to carry guns, are they a hypocrite? Of course not.

parikh, I suggest you see a proctologist, maybe he can help you find your head.

  • Ignorance - The facts that Glenn Ignored

[Read the article: The right dictates MSNBC's programming decisions]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    1. "Tom Brokaw, the interim host of "Meet the Press," said that at times Olbermann and Matthews went too far."

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/08/AR2008090800008_pf.html

    2. MSNBC commentators were arguing on air. Not debating politics, arguing with one another, like school children.

    3. olberman has a history of being difficult to work with.

Glenn ignores all of these facts when he makes the claim the the right "forced" and "dictated" the decision by MSNBC to dump olberman and matthews as anchors. (try proving either claim, glenn. You're starting to sound like those who believe the Israeli's were behind 911).

Althougth the right has been unhappy with MSNBC's coverage (as have hillary supporters), maybe NBC mgt actually listened to Tom Brokaw, and thought it time to crack the whip on the screaming children it was putting on the air.

  • New Heights of Subjectivism

[Read the article: New heights of stupidity]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"New heights of stupidity" - Glenn Greenwald.

    Half-right, half-wrong.

    Q. Is the claim that obama called Gov. Palin a pig, "stupid"?

    A. Yes, it is stupid.

    Q. Has that claim reached "new heights"?

    A. No, not by a long shot. There are numerous examples of false outrage, coming from both sides. Those heights were reached long ago.

Here's one of the latest: NY Governor Harry Paterson (the guy that replaced spit-lizard), suggests that referring to obama as a "community organizer" is racist.

If you want a true example of outrageous characterizations, refer to Salon's labelling of Gov. Palin as a "dominatrix". That is an example of sexism, a cheap shot, and what we can expect from non-serious journalists.

    Paterson's claim:

  • Who Made the Wrong Choice?

[Read the article: The culture war: It's back!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Shortly after Palin became McCain's running-mate, many on the left argued that McCain's choice demonstrated that he lacked good judgement.

Let's apply that tenet to obama.

obama showed extremely poor judgement by not selecting, not even seriously considering Hillary as his running-mate...just imagine if he had.

    Poor judgement on obama's part.

    Biden agrees.

  • CONCLUSIVE PROOF - that felonious activities continue.

[Read the article: What illegal "things" was the government doing in 2001-2004?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Proof: Despite predictions to the contrary, the US has not suffered a significant terrorist attack since September 11, 2001.

...maybe Pelosi, Harman, Hoyer, and Rockefeller saw what was going, understood why it was going on, and based on those observations, went along with it?

Given no evidence disputing such a conclusion, that's what I think. They made a tough decision in response to a difficult predicament. ...No other motive makes sense for those democrats to go along with Bush in this case.

  • @Kitt - what's the underlying motivation for the "egregious" law breaking?

[Read the article: What illegal "things" was the government doing in 2001-2004?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Ok Kitt, let me put the question this way.

Why would Pelosi, Harman, Hoyer, and Rockefeller ever be complicit with Bush's surveillance program? Why would they not object after having been "repeatedly briefed on the spying program"? If it was as awful as Glenn suggests, it seems that they would love to beat him over the head with it.

I believe that they were motivated by the same thing that motivated Bush. I believe that the program was fruitful.

    When I say that no other motive makes sense, what I mean is;

    1. Did these people get rich from the surveillance program?

    2. Did they get sexual favors?

    3. Did it empower them? If so, how?

If anyone can offer a scenario whereby Bush's leading critics went along with his policy, please explain their motive.
