  • Dear Friends,

[Read the article: The decay of serious journalism and Rachel Maddow's new show]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I need to respond. I doubt it will alter your jaded, emotional, neurally impaired view of the world, but, hope springs eternal.

    1. My post last night about olderman (the pompous wind bag) used the example that he comments extensively on right-wing pundits, rather than policy. That is anything but serious journalism. It is more like a junior high school hissy fit.

    2. I made the analogy between salonista’s rabid support, or opposition to a personality, to that of the Hatfields vs McCoys feud. The analogy is correct in that it is in large part a mindless hate filled battle. It is incorrect in that both the Hatfields and McCoys were gun totin’ hillbillys. I doubt that many salonistas tote guns (with the exception of sen. webb and rosie o’donnell).

    3. Why do you hate the New Republic so much? . . . because, like dumb dan rather they couldn’t get away with their forgery? (the Baghdad Diarist)

  • Glenn is trapped in Junior High School

[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Yesterday Glenn wrote about "serious journalism". Today glenn builds an argument based on comments from right-wing entertainers; Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Ann Coulter. Focusing on your competitors makes me wonder if you are completely wrapped up in some sort of junior high school hissy fit, unhappy with what he said about what she said, about a friend of yours.

    Meanwhile, serious journalists are discussing;

    1. US, Iraq close in on deal for pullout of US troops

    http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080822/D92N9EN00.html

Wasn't this the war that is lost and cannot be won? (according to sen. reid). Maybe being proven wrong is what makes this shake-down artist hate John McCain.

    2. McCain Leading Obama in Polls

How are we going to blame Diebold for this?

    3. What next?

The anthrax attacks were a diversionary tactic designed to take our eye off who really caused the World Trade Center to fall?

"You mean the guy who admitted his failings and infidelity?"

Nice guy john edwards didn't admit his failings, he copped a plea.

The National Enquirer reports that edwards is the father of Rielle's child and the edwards know who is funding her.

Both of which edwards denies. One of which may constitute a felony.

Now, I know that relying on the National Enquirer as some sort of "serious journalistic" source puts you on shaky ground, but, relying on edwards puts you on shakier ground. He's an ambulance chasing trial attorney.

  • Salonistas - Follow Your Principles

[Read the article: The right and men who live off their second wives' inherited wealth]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    I encourage salonistas to follow their stated beliefs;

    1. Do not vote for rich people.

    2. Do not vote for adulterers.

    3. Vote Nader.

  • Thanks omooex

I should have known. Nader is shake-down lawyer too!

"NotOrbitChild....you are doing the VERY thing you are accusing Glenn of doing."

    Close, but not quite.

The difference is that I am not claiming to be engaing in "serious journalism", nor do I cite Limbaugh, Hannity, Keith Olderman, or Coulter when I try to make a serious point. I also do not cite Elvis Presley. Those guys are entertainers.

There's nothing to stop you from engaging in emotionally driven rants about someone you don't like. ...There's something wrong in suggesting that it is based on high ideals, principles which govern your own actions.

After reading these letters, I find it hilarious to read how selectively the word "hypocrite" is used.

    1. I'm here because here is where it's needed the most. Objective, analytical approach to problems as opposed to emotional responses. Salonistas need help with their logic skills.

    2. I have high-speed internet.

Lighten up, the "high speed internet" reference was meant as a joke, in response to omex's crude suggestion re. my personal behavior.

    Have nice day.

  • obama snubs hillary

    [Read the article: It's Biden]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

After all the good work that Hillary has done in her life, obama doesn't even vet her. He doesn't care.

If he will treat a strong supporter like Hillary in such a manner, how will he treat you?

  • Issues?

[Read the article: Joe Biden steps up for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    1) How much are they going to raise our taxes?

    2) Will they abandon Iraq?

    3) Will global warming continue to be an issue that "we must act upon now, before it's too late"?, or will it be forgotten, since it's served its purpose?

...or will the serious journalists at salon be discussing Cindy McCain's wealth?

  • Vote Nader, ...or quit whining

[Read the article: AT&T thanks the Blue Dog Democrats with a lavish party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

glenn decries those engaged in "..a filthy and deeply corrupt process..."

Ok, I see where you're coming from.

Vote Nader, if you don't like corporate influence on our goverment. Otherwise, quit whining.

    Walk the walk, or shut-up.

  • On shutting-up

    democrats back FISA bill.

    democrats back welfare reform.

democrats back permanent normalized trade relations with china (bye-bye US mfg, hello cheap crap in WalMart).

    democrats back NAFTA.

democrats gobble up as much corporate money as Republicans.

...I'll shut up when you realize that you're not what you pretend to be.

  • @PDA ....also

If you read my original post, it contained the suggestion that if you feel that corporations corrupt the political process, Ralph Nader should be your candidate of choice.

If you know of another candidate who will do more to weaken corporate influence, enlighten me.

  • @OhMexico

[Read the article: AT&T thanks the Blue Dog Democrats with a lavish party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Rather than changing the subject, try answering this question.

    1. What presidential candidate holds the strongest anti-corporate positions?

I argue that the answer to that question is Ralph Nader.

  • @Oh Mexico

[Read the article: AT&T thanks the Blue Dog Democrats with a lavish party]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    1. I'm not voting for Nader. I am not the one that fears corporations, or sees them as a dark evil force. I am questioning why those who do feel that way, do not promote Nader.

Although I know that greed corrupts, corporations are not the only guilty party. Corporations have improved our quality of life far more than any government program.

    2. I am registered, but thinking of un-registering. Where I live, you can vote as many times as you want if they don't already have you on record. A policy that democrats are loathe to change.
