[Read the article: Wesley Clark boldly goes where few have gone before]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You ask; "What part of, "I'm not saying it isn't true," do you not understand?"
I don't understand this part of your non-denial;
"Since when, if you're a POW, do you get to dictate your release? I mean, why didn't they just say, "tough, we're letting you go"?"
Had you read the 3rd link I provided, your question would have been answered;
“John was offered, and refused, "early release." Many of us were given this offer. It meant speaking out against your country and lying about your treatment to the press. You had to "admit" that the U.S. was criminal and that our treatment was "lenient and humane." So I, like numerous others, refused the offer.”
Hopefully your question has now been answered.
Your other point; "Also, as others have pointed out, a single act of courage and self-sacrifice doesn't make you presidential material."
You are right. Being an American born citizen, age 35 or older makes you potential presidential material. There are probably a couple other provisos that I’m not aware of. I do know that attending the church of a wacked-out race baiter is not an issue.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yes you did.
As when a kindergarden teacher becomes frustrated dealing with a child who cannot grasp the most basic concepts. Sometimes the teacher in that scenario becomes frustrated; not with the slow witted child, but with their own inability to reach the retard.
That is the nerve you hit.

Let this Debate Continue...
[Read the article: Slamming Wesley Clark]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is a great debate, and I agree with Joan; "I was sorry to see the Obama campaign "reject" Gen. Wesley Clark's remarks about John McCain on Face the Nation yesterday."
I hope wesley never shuts up. I'm sure he won't, but I am unsure of the coverage he will get.
Three Points:
1) We need to understand what qualifies each of these candidates. Although wesley torqued off a bunch of people w/ his comments; "...riding a fighter plane" (sounds petty doesn't it?), he provided a great lead-in to "What qualifies obama to be president?".
It's no surprise that obama wants to avoid that question and distance himself from wesley. Obama doesn't have much of an answer, not if we apply the wesley clark standard.
2) Wesley's definition of "qualifying experience" is narrow, suggesting that McCain's military experience is not a qualifier because he didn't hold a high level command ... a back-handed slap to everyone who served in the military and didn't reach the rank of wesley. Nice one dork.
In any case, McCain's experience both in the Navy and after, far exceeds obama's. Again, thanks wes.
3) The best part of McCain's POW story is his refusal of an early release. Wesley causes the story to be revisited.
From wikipedia;
"In mid-1968, McCain's father was named commander of all U.S. forces in the Vietnam theater, and McCain was offered early release. The North Vietnamese wanted to appear merciful for propaganda purposes, and also wanted to show other POWs that elites like McCain were willing to be treated preferentially. McCain turned down the offer of repatriation; he would only accept the offer if every man taken in before him was released as well."
Thanks wes. Keep it up.

Go for it, Jack

[Read more letters about this article: Here]@JackHughes
I like your suggestion; "Odd that McCain's collaboration films have been officially "disappeared.""
Just like wesley clark, you give reason to tell the real story. John McCain owned up to his involvement in North Vietnam's propaganda program long ago.
From the wiki link posted earlier;
In August of 1968, a program of severe torture began on McCain. McCain was subjected to repeated beatings and rope bindings, at the same time as he was suffering from dysentery. After four days, McCain made an anti-American propaganda "confession". He has always felt that his statement was dishonorable, but as he would later write, "I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine." His injuries left him permanently incapable of raising his arms above his head. He subsequently received two to three beatings per week because of his continued refusal to sign additional statements. Other American POWs were similarly tortured and maltreated in order to extract "confessions" and propaganda statements, with many enduring even worse treatment than McCain."
Thanks for the opportunity to display McCain's honesty and humility jack.
Repeat your suggestion that McCain is dishonorable loudly, and repeatedly. Encourage obama supporters to do the same.
