    No, I was not making a legal argument with regard to the military draft, the constitution, and O.J. Simpson. Neither was I race baiting as suggested by Mike Sulkman.

    I was trying to get the salonoids to look at their position. They wack-out over Bush's and Scalia's view of the constitution as it relates to foreign terrorists, but they don't wack out when it is suggested that the draft be re-instated.

    You can make arguments that I am comparing actions that are governed by different laws, and don't hold up from a legal perspective. You could also re-volunteer for hall monitoring duty.

    I don't believe the salonista reaction to the dissenting members of the Supreme Court is caused by their love of the US Constitution. I believe it is motivated by their hatred of Bush.

    The only consistency I see in the salonoid position is "if it's bad for Bush, it's good for me".

    Gleen Greenwald should answer E-Man's question re. Habeus.

    It's not just bases, the success in Iraq goes under-reported.

    By the way, the author mentions the sadrists. I wonder what they think about their fearless leader running away to Iran, now that Iraqi soldiers have taken over his city.

    Do you want us and the Iraqi people to lose? . . . just so your guy gets elected? . . . or so that you can say I told you so?

    Like when Pelosi claimed that any success in Iraq was due to the Iranians?

    You asked;

    "Why do you continue to equate withdrawal from Iraq with LOSING?"

    Answer: Because numerous military and security experts have warned that Iraq will likely descend into chaos (again) if we leave prematurely.

    We can't change the decision to invade Iraq. We can, however, continue to act in manner that allows the Iraqis to build a stable self-sustaining nation. If you read the links I provided, you will see examples of progress in that regard.

    As a matter of fact, if elected, I expect obama will not quickly withdraw, despite what he says today.

    Salon never talks about the progress in Iraq. It is counter to their agenda.

    Beauzeau = french Bozo? That would explain a lot.

    Your paragraph 2: Yes, we ignore plight all over the world. In addition to your example of Zimbabwe, we didn't invade cuba to alleviate the suffering there (I'm excluding JFK's bay of pigs so as not to anger any democrats reading this). I'm not going to justify the invasion of Iraq, as I said in my original post, we cannot undo it.

    Para 3: Poor analogy. Iraq has needed help with security, creating a constitution, and holding elections. From the get go liberals predicted failure on all of these points (there are numerous examples). They were wrong.

    As others have pointed out, we have had bases in S. Korea and Germany for decades. The presence of those bases has not prevented those countries from developing a strong society. Nor does the presence of a military base imply that we control the countries hosting the base. That is a paranoid rant heard often on the salon message boards.

    Para 4: The progress you missed in the links;

    1) Iraq continues to take the lead in security (Sadr city, Basra)

    2) Iraq is attracting foreign investment (investors wouldn't invest if they held as dire an opinion as harry reid, but when it comes to investments, harry likes the inside deals).

    3) Violence is down, especially that directed toward US soldiers.

    Para 5: If I had tunnel vision, I wouldn't be reading salon.

    Para 6: obama prediction: Post election, obama makes up with rev. wright.

    "One big difference between the GOP and the Dems: we police our own."

    That's funny. I hope you don't really believe it.

    The guy in the link below is a democrat congressman from Louisisanna. They found $90k in his freezer. He is accused of accepting $500k in bribes. He has a 16 count grand jury indictment against him (from last year), his aide has plead guilty.

    He's still a congressman.

    So much for your claim.

    So much for Glenn's concern for "the rule of law"

    Send cash-in-the-freezer Jefferson and Pelosi an email, if you believe in your convictions.

    I used the term "convictions", not with respect to freezer boy, but with respect to one's beliefs.

    You posted; "Why would the Democrats, or anyone else take action against someone who is innocent?"

    Raises interesting questions.

    1) What has Steny Hoyer been convicted of?

    2) Why does Glenn claim that Steny has contempt for the rule of law, yet ignores Jefferson?

    Just politics I guess. Certainly not the moral high ground.
