  • Why the questions sucked.

[Read the article: The harmony between the Right and the media]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think that the reason that the left wing media asks such poor questions at the democratic debates, is because they know that the candidates will do poorly with good questions.

Like when obama said he'd invade Pakistan in order to go after osama. The media elites don't want their candidates to make more of those same mistakes.

    They're protecting them.

  • Greenwald Omissions Update

[Read the article: Mukasey dishonesty update]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Mukasey gives a speech, and following the speech states a falsehood(s) in response to a reporter's question. One falsehood was the source of a particular phone call. Mukasey has since corrected that. Other potential falsehoods revolve around the interpretation of FISA, as it existed pre-911.

Mukasey is accused of lying, and misleading the public. Glenn and others seemed to think that he “fake cried” too. I’ll leave that one alone. I’m not an expert on fake crying.

Glenn states; "Mukasey's patently false claims made in the speech he delivered several weeks ago in San Francisco regarding FISA and the 9/11 attacks".

Glenn’s statement is patently false. Mukasey spoke of FISA and 911 during a Q&A session, not as part of his prepared speech (which was on a different topic). The pertinent point being, it is easier to understand someone getting the source location of a telephone call wrong in a Q&A session versus a prepared speech. Claiming the comments were part of a speech however, makes it seem more diabolical. That is useful when creating a myth.

A more important question regarding falsehoods is whether or not FISA, pre-911, was an impediment to dealing with terrorist threats. Conyers asked a bunch of questions in a letter to Mukasey. A bunch of liberals cheered on that letter, and stated how important it was that those questions be answered.

The DOJ answers those questions, but glenn and a whole bunch of other lefty bloggers fail to give them to you. In short, they don’t really want you to hear the other side. They would rather state the other side’s case for them. Another useful tool when creating myths.

    Brian Benczkowski, Principal Deputy Asst. Attorney General as part of his answer to conyers states;

You imply that the emergency authorization process under FISA is an adequate substitute for the legislative authorities that have lapsed. This assertion reflects a basic misunderstanding about FISA's emergency authorization provisions. Specifically, you assert that the National Security Agency (NSA) or the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) "may begin surveillance immediately" in an emergency situation. FISA requires far more, and it would be illegal to proceed as you suggest. Before surveillance begins the Attorney General must determine that there is probable cause that the target of the surveillance is a foreign power or an agent of a foreign power and that FISA's other requirements are met. As explained above, the process of compiling the facts necessary for such a determination and preparing applications for emergency authorizations takes time and results in delays.

So do we characterize this as a difference of legal opinion? or a conspiracy?

You don't have to agree with it, but you should read the DOJ's response to conyers questions. Unless, that is, you like having your thinking done for, and your chain routinely yanked.

I apologize for assuming that the lack of a link to the DOJ's response was intentional.

The DOJ obviously has a different take on this matter, and it does not seem unreasonable, . . . to me.

You can presume it, but I don't. Don't include "me" in the "we".

The DOJ claims that FISA (pre-911 version, at least) impedes the rapid response by the intelligence community. They claim that the emergency provisions in FISA take time and effort to accomodate. The letter I linked to, directly challenges conyers position re. FISA. The DOJ claims that conyers is wrong.

In response to the DOJ's position, they have been called liars, imperial lords over a dark universe, shredders of the constituion, and worse.

A lot of hyperbole, and at least a couple lies.

If you don't like coporate control over your candidates, friends like rev. jeremiah wright, and weekly lies (bosnia sniper fire, "I didn't <<fill in the blank>>" ), then you should vote Nader.

  • Bldg 7

[Read the article: Media's refusal to address the NYT's "military analyst" story continues]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obviously, it was the media, with help from their "independent" military analysts, who took down building 7.

This wouldn't have happened if we had Oprah explain the performance characteristics of our Abrams M1A tanks, and their support vehicles.

  • If Bill Moyers makes you look bad

[Read the article: Why Jeremiah Wright is so wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

If you are on the left, and are interviewed by ultra-liberal bill moyers, and following that interview, you look bad,...you got issues.

One of the more destructive comments from jeremiah wright is that the US came up with AIDs as a way to commit genocide against blacks.

I argue that that statemet is racist. Blatantly so.

If you follow a leader like that, I pity you.

Joan didn't make that claim, jeremiah wright did.

  • Hey Joan Baby

[Read the article: Why Jeremiah Wright is so wrong]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In response to a relatively straight-forward discussion of an interview, your points are ignored, you are labelled a racist, and your motivations are defined for you, by others.

Now you know what it feels like to be a Republican.

You probably don't want your advertisers to read this discussion thread. What could they possibly sell these people?... God help us if they join the Air Force.

  • 2nd Time

[Read the article: Why the Jeremiah Wright story deserves more attention]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I agree with glenn, for the 2nd time ever, I think.

We should stop talking about obama's spiritual leader who thinks the US created AIDs to kill blacks.

We should talk about obama's plan to invade Pakistan instead.

Gotta do something with those troops after we pull them out of Iraq.

    Obama says Invade Pakistan:
