  • More Myth Making

[Read the article: The Associated Press fails to reveal Mukasey's favorite color]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Hi Glenn,

Here is yet another example of lying, and myth making, coming from a presidential candidate. As important as it is to point out lies among serving politicians, I figure it is at least as important to point out the lies of those trying to get the job, so that we can nip the problem in the bud.

Hillary lied about a woman w/o health care. According to hillary, the woman died because she didn't pay a $100 fee, therefore, we need hillary to put together a huge bureaucracy to save us.

Except, the story is a lie, a myth...maybe she mis-spoke.

  • If you want...

If you want to live under a byzantine set of rules that govern our nation, vote for a democrat.

If you want those rules to suddenly change in order to benefit a particular individual, vote for billary as your democrat.

If you do not like that version of governance, the next time you pray, thank God that howard dean did not become President of the United States of America.

Read "If the system made sense, Clinton would be far ahead" for examples supporting these conclusions.

  • Kamiya is the Propagandist

[Read the article: The Iran boogeyman is back]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Lets go back to last September, when General Patreus delivered a report to congress.

    1) moveon.org said he was betraying us.

    2) billary said she had to suspend disbelief to accept his report (suspend disbelief?, coming from the one who said; "I'm named after Sir Edmund Hillary", "I dodged sniper fire in Bosnia", "I brokered the peace accord in N. Ireland",...there are MANY more examples).

    3) A boat load of war critics said Gen. Patreus was lying, that things were getting worse, not better.

Review the situation in Iraq since that report. Things have slowly gotten better.

But, that doesn't suit your aims, does it Gary?

You need to pre-judge the upcoming report, as was the last one, and make all sort of postulations to further your cause. At least Juan said that the October elections could lead to improvement.

I remember when salonistas said that elections and a constitution would never come about.

  • Campaign Spending as a Measure of their Ability to Govern.

[Read the article: Cashing in on the Clinton campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

As the CEO of their campaign, a candidate can choose to spend, overspend, or squander, however they see fit.

But when they do, ask yourself; If they win, what are they going to do with my money?

Sounds like McCain or Nader can best answer that question.

  • False Assumption?

[Read the article: Lee Hamilton denies Michael Mukasey's claim about 9/11]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

There is an assumption in part of the argument against Mukasey that continues to be made, but I don't see proof positive that it is justified.

The assumption is that the reason Mukasey said we could not determine the destination of the call from the safe house was because of FISA.

    Can anyone put forward an argument to refute the following;

"We could not determine the destination of the call from the safehouse because we did not have the cooperation of the telcos pre-911".

I know, I know, this does not answer other questions as to the veracity of the story, nor why hamilton doesn't know anything about it. However, it is my understanding that the help we get (got) from telcos does not follow in lock step with the legal requirements of FISA.

Maybe Mukasey was arguing we need continued help from telcos. Help we will not get if they are under the threat of a lawsuit.

  • @Glenn, @Arne

Thanks for responding to my post. I admit that disproving my theory does not in itself prove anything. I suggest it to cause you to question your assumption, that Mukasey argues that FISA contained legal restrictions pre 911 that prevented determining the destination of a particular call.

He may have just as well been arguing that pre-911 we didn't have the kind of telco support we have today (or recently had).

Glenn, you mention that telcos cooperated with the government pre-911. I don't have the experience to challenge that. In any case I expect that you would agree that quantifying the level of cooperation pre and post 911 (pre and post telco immunity) is a subjective call. I expect that you would also agree that when private organizations are given immunity from liability, their behavior is affected. I think that to argue that we will get the same level of support from telcos without that immunity is preposterous.

Arne: you mention that call signaling information contains the CalledPartyAddress. Sounds like you have an understanding of the protocols used by telcos. However, to what extent does the CalledPartyAddress identify the destination? What if all we get is a destination telephone number, to a cell phone. Can we determine the location of the destination w/o the help of the telcos? I don't think you've refuted my suggestion. A number is not necessarily a physical destination, it's not a person.

  • Thanks Arne

How quickly can a telco locate a cell phone, and to what geographical extent can it discern that location, given the number of the cell phone?

Can the government do that w/o telco support?
