@Readerreader

Readerreader:“Chad, I may agree with you about the wolf hunts, but that would have to accompany a lot of questions I have about the treatment of animals in this country.”

I agree, but this article is about whales, wolves and Alaska’s wildlife policies so I’m sticking to that.

Readerreader: “By the way, seriously, are you in favor of a legal ban on abortion to accompany a legal ban on wolf hunting?”

I don’t see the two as even being remotely related (I think only Christians and Republicans can somehow make that connection--yet ironically, not between abortion and capital punishment).

If you want to cull wolves, whales or any other animal I have no problem doing it in utero (as long as you don’t hurt the mother—which, is of course, an impossibility). But I do not consider a human or animal embryo a sentient being that has any legal or moral rights. That is too big of a discussion to get in to here of course, but that’s my answer in a nutshell.

@Readerreader

Readerreader: “Limozeen and scanner, I think you're underestimating Alaska's governor. She administers the largest state in the Union… is the largest land administrator after the federal government, is the executive of a 15,000 strong work force, oversees a $40 billion permanent governmental endowment, blah, blah, blah…”

That is the worse of special pleading I have ever read. What does that have to do with being a good leader? Imagine if I said, “Readerreader, you are underestimating Stalin. He administers the largest country in the world, is the executive on a 120,000,000 work force oversees and economy of …” You get my point.

If you want to make a defense of Palin, try to make it on rational terms using her policy’s and track record of good leadership (good luck).

@subterraneanne

Well, when God is going to come and destroy everything any day now, why the hell protect it or use it wisely.

Sounds creepy but that's what James Watt, the former Secretary of the Interior, basically said!

Hey, let's settle down...I don't think that's right to call xychro a 'moron'. The politically correct term is 'fucking imbecile'.

@notorbitboy

You said: "How about providing some scientific data that supports the notion that;1) Polar bear populations are declining.2) Polar ice is declining."

How about learning to use a search engine! Or better yet- a library!

Original article: The case against thrift

Rubbish!

It's a lot easier to "live for today" when you have a little financial security and you're not wondering where your next meal is coming from. And of course saving money won't "save your soul"-- but it will feed you and send your kids to college.

Seriously, This is exactly the kind of hare brained thinking that got Americans to accrue trillions in personal debt in the first place. A little self-flagellation will do the American population a bit of good!
