@Readerreader

Readerreader: "In the midwest, hunting is permitted to thin the deer population, and no one thinks much of it. Up there, they evidently thin the wolf population to protect caribou."

Alaska's ariel wolf culling policy has little to do with protecting caribou and a lot to do with leaving moose and other big game for cash generating hunters. The whole caribou excuse is just a red herring to make is sound "utilitarian".

Besides, even reputable outfitters and hunters in Alaska find the methods barbaric and very 'unsportman' like.

@xychro

xychro: "Enviropsychos are so stupid they'd rather have people attacked by wolves than have the wolf population controlled."

Go ahead xychro, dazzle me with your statistics on wolves attacking humans. Since you won't be able to come up with anything let me give you a hint at just how dangerous wolves are: more people die from bee stings every day than have been killed by wolves in the last century.

xychro: "They probably think Alaska is the size of Manhattan and can't figure out why airplanes are necessary for the chore."

Aerial hunting is by far the stupidest and least economical solution to wolf culling that is out there. It's about on par with killing gophers using dynamite. anyway, aerial culling has nothing to do with protecting people or caribou and everything to do with macho dickheads that have planes and guns and want to find a way to use both at the same time.
