I guess there is some confusion as to what makes this strip funny. Let me try to help.

The place is supposed to be clean...but there a fucking hedgehog in the toilet.

Does that clear things up?

Calling a Spade a Spade

The subtext of this question is really “Which candidate will best pander to the interests of this second rate theocracy?” A theocracy, I might add, that holds tenaciously to the absurd fantasy that by virtue of being a ‘chosen people’ (a self claim based on a rotten little political tract written 25 centuries ago to disenfranchise a rival tribe in the same area) God has given them exclusive rights to that land—in perpetuity. This right also allows them to practice open apartheid against the other fifty percent of the population, who by any measure of fairness, have equal claim to that land.

So the opening question on this article is really: “Which President will best back up the silly tribal claims of the Israelis by keeping a boot on the neck of the Palestinians—thus keeping both the middle east conflict and terrorism in the region alive and well.”

Sometimes you have to call things for what they really are.

An Albatross

Israel is an albatross around this country’s neck. Despite the author’s assertion that Israel is a democracy, it is in reality a brutal theocracy that just happens to worship desert Djins of another name than it’s equally deluded neighbors.

And honestly, let’s stop pretending that Israel is a sovereign nation. It’s a country invented by it’s American and British patrons to solve a refugee problem that neither country was morally equipped to solve through assimilation on their own territory. Israel gets six times the federal funding per capita of any other State in this union along with an alliance that guarantees protection so let’s also quit pretending that we have to play nice and gently encourage them to deal fairly with the Palestinians.

In a perfect world the President would give Israel their marching orders and tell them to shape up or fuck off. But no president will. Why? Because we are a country controlled by Christian wing nuts that see the eventual destruction of Israel as a precursor to the end times (oh the irony; we protect Israel so that it can be destroyed properly one day) and other religious wing nuts that think that this little piece of land the size of a Texas landfill is somehow more important than the rest of the world (religion really does poison everything!).

We will never have any appreciable peace in the Middle East until Israel realizes that its shit stinks just like everyone else’s and grants political and geographical equality to the fifty percent of it’s countrymen who are currently disenfranchised.

@nananance

I've been waiting for the all too familiar accusation of 'anti-Semitism' to be trotted out on this thread. The ADL and other Israeli PACs have conditioned people to hear any criticism of Israel as somehow ‘anti-Semitic’. But there is a big difference between singling out and attacking adherents of one monotheistic cult and criticizing a nation that is largely made up of people of that faith. If I attack Italy I am not attacking the Vatican and when I criticize Pakistan I am not attacking Islam. You should check your mental map and ask yourself why you see a general dissatisfaction with the aims and policies of Israel as somehow being anti-Semitic.

@Arroyocat

You said: "The comments so far have shown to me that the hatred of the Jewish people will never die in the hearts of so many people."

These are the words of a professional victim. I think there should be a condition called ‘Tel Aviv Syndrome’ where any comment against the State of Israel or any slight against a person of Jewish ancestry (Jeez, that Barry Goldstein sure is a terrible actor!) is immediately construed as an anti-Semitic comment.

@MCE007

You said: "Not the people of Paris...not the people of Berlin...not the people of London...the people of Sandusky, Ohio, Little Rock, Fresno, Montpelier, Butte and Buffalo..."

Ah, not really-- A very undemocratic institution called the electoral college elects the president and they don't give a shit about the good folks in Sandusky.

@Arroyocat

You are right, I do not know you and do not know if you are a 'professional victim' so let me make a correction. I should have said that "those are the kinds of words that are typical of professional vicitms"; especially ones who are always yammering about hatred of Jews everytime a criticism of Israel's politics are made.

I loathe Israel's politics but I am no anti-semite or have any hatred for jews in my heart. In fact, I'm all for a Jewish homeland. In fact it already exists; it's called New York and Florida. My homestate of Utah would also be a perfect place for further settlement. After all I'm a big fan of braindrain and believe it is the life blood of our country.

But the state of Israel in what 'was' Palestine was a very bad idea.

Robert G. Ingersoll Said It All

"Religion and science are enemies. One is a superstition; the other is a fact. One rests upon the false, the other upon the true. One is the result of fear and faith, the other of investigation and reason."

Go towards the light...

I don't suffer from 'Blockbuster Fatigue' because my life doesn't revolve around comic book shit and moronic summer fare.

If I can give you some advice Stephanie- get out of the screening room and enjoy the outdoors.
