There's something about Sarah
[Read the article: "Sex and the City"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't really care what anyone says....there is something about Sarah Jessica Parker that transcends her "horsey" face and skinny itty bitty body. (Though she's always been skinny, I remember her in that Las Vegas movie with Nicolas Cage and she had some thighs and ass going for her and she looked foine.) I loved her way back in Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (and what...she was way cool!)
I remember I saw her on Project Runway and she was talking to one of the Designers who masked his own complete overwhelmedness of being in the same room as her by talking really fast and playing the part of the "professional." ...at the end of the interview he got up and walked right past her when she stuck out her hand. The look on her face was comedy...it wasn't like she was mad...I can't explain it. It was so perfect. I betcha the designer kicks himself whenever he sees that clip.
As for Sex and the City: I liked the show. I even catch the cleaned up version on TBS at 5 p.m. on the weekends. Sure I'm a black female who has only spent a nominal time in the City (well, in that City) but I identified with the women on the show, not because of the sex, but because of the friendships. It wasn't all about buying shoes and fucking men (or women, in one memorable Samantha story line) and anyone who actually watched all of the episodes could see that. They were there for each other. Manohla's and men may come and go, but your girlfriends are forever. Or at least in the SATC universe. It makes me feel a bit verklempt.
Besides, SJP dated quite a few fine looking fella's in her day, so like I said, there must be quite a few men who see what I see in her.

Exception to the Charlotte Rule right here, kryptogal
[Read the article: "Sex and the City"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Even though I really like SJP, I was never a Carrie fan so much. I'm a girl, and I always thought Charlotte was the hottest one. She really wasn't that much of a prude; remember that episode where Miranda's boyfriend wants a little salad tossing, and Charlotte admits she does it to her husband. (Trey.) When the girls at the table look aghast she says, He's my husband!
That's Charlotte. She may look like a prude, but underneath the Waspy headband exterior is a ho...fo' sho. I think that's what attracts guy, not her prudishness or her search for a husband. My boyfriend says the same thing about Jennifer Anniston.

AKA Smith
[Read the article: Ferraro wants study on sexism, racism in campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You never quote any of the racist comments against Obama. I've certainly read them, even on Salon. I remember Shawn calling Obama a thug. I remember ProudTexasgirl making racist comments about black people who vote for Obama.
I've read some pretty racist comments from supposed Clinton supporters (I don't beleive they are Clinton supporters though, I give your people the benefit of the doubt) on most mainstream news websites. I've read him called monkey. I've heard them say that if he becomes a president the White House will turn turn into a ghetto. And don't get me started on all of the times he is called a nigger, or a coon, or any other racial slur.
You are a such smart woman, but I despair that you can't see anyone else's side but your own. Using Dataguxy or that YesWeCAn fool as proof of the evil mindset of ALL Obama supporters is ridiculous. It is irrational. (I'm sorry if I'm using coded sexual language.)
I really think you lack the ability to see anything other than your own perceived victimhood as a Clinton supporter. Do you ever speak out against people who post racist diatribes on this board, I wonder? I know, I know, you aren't doing it, but can you see that justice for woman is inextricably tied up with justic for black folks, especially since half us have female bits.
I know they aren't attacking women, but don't you, as a member of an oppressed group, feel some sort of solidarity with your black brothers and sisters? Do you care about black people, as a sensitive women who has been poor and has suffered at the hands of "de man?"
I'm just wondering. Maybe you've been a champion for the cause of justice for all, whether they be men or women. black or white.

[Read the article: Ferraro wants study on sexism, racism in campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I knew someone was going to say "thug" isn't a racist term.
Look, we'll agree to disagree. Me, as a black woman, see a white person who consistantly usues disparaging lanaguage against a black man, culminating in saying he's a "thug", especially when said black person is a lawyer, educated, well spoken, etc., as being a bigot. It's coded, racist language, in my opinin.
It's like assuming that if Obama wins they'll be fried chicken and water melon at the White House every day! And 40s....don't forget the 40s. And crack. Actually, fried chicken is good...
I, for one, beleive the new racial slur of the 21st Century is calling someone a Muslim. I beleive that most people who call Obama a Muslim do so because they can't get away with calling him a nigger. But that is just me.
I'm sorry, that is what I beleive. It's just like you beleiving any criticism of Clinton, like the RFK comments or asking her to get out of the race, is a form of misogyny and sexism. Its all in perception.
I don't expect you to understand, but I do think people who post on this board should be respectful to both canidates and refrain from calling them thugs or bitches or cunts or whatever.
