  • I concur!

With the earlier poster who basically said that sexism and racism exist, of course it does, and Clinton's fault was in not realizing that it would play in the election.

I think a lot of women, especially white upper middle class women, were really shocked to find out that their privilige only stretched so far. Whereas black people, of both genders, and other racial minorities, have always been aware of the so-called "glass ceiling" and the things one has to do to break it. We're much more paranoid and we have all been taught to play a role, to a certain extent, in order to get ahead. Some, of course more than others.

I really don't think Obama's success has anything to do with the fact he was a man to Clinton's woman; I think it had to do with the fact that he never came off as a victim.

And Clinton has been the victim since the 90s. We all remember the 'vast right wing conspiracy" comments. Her enemies are legion, but somehow they didn't stop her and Bill from becoming millionares, her from winning a seat in the Senate, or Chelsea from getting a high paying job at some investment firm. For a lot of people, if that's what it means to have enemies...well bring it on vast right wing conspiracy.

The truht is, I beleive in the vast right wing conspiracy; but I know enough not to talk about it in "mixed company" (the media, in front of the "man," etc.) because it will just be spun to make you look ludicrous. Better to create a "vast left wing conspiracy" and tear the right wing to shreds.

  • Sun's Buyout....and Lost

[Read the article: Finale wrap-up: "Lost"]

Isn't it conceivable, as her father's daughter, that she would already have stock in the company? A lot of rich people give their children stock, don't they?

I don't think she bought the company; she just got controlling interest away from her father and kicked him off of the board. Conceivably with her Oceanic money, Jin's Oceanic money, heck probably the baby she was pregnant with got some money as well, and the stocks she already owned (probably bequeathed to her when she got married) it wouldn't be too hard for her get get a controlling intersest in the company. She may have even had others on the board who were sick of her father, and who knows, Widmore.

    Okay, enough about that:

    SPOILERS

I liked the finale, but it was really frustrating as hell. I especially love the part where Locke and Ben are in the Orchid station and Ben, sick of Locke's constant questions sits him down to watch another of those creepy Dharma tapes.

And now we know what was up with all those bunnies! I was frustrated, almost to tears, that we don't see anything on the island after Ben moves it.

I also hate Jack. Hate. Jack.

Do ya'll think the Oceanic Flight might have gone down on the Island because Jack's father was on board, in a coffin? That is what I'm thinking, now.

  • I thought they had female rabbis

[Read the article: Vatican to women: No stinkin' girls allowed!]

At least the Reformed jews do? Maybe I'm crazy though.

I don't know, I think the Catholic Church is shooting itself in the foot with this nonsense.

The old men in my family still grumble about women ministers and women preaching (fond as they are of Paul's words about women in church and how they should keep their mouths shut...I mean, seriously, what was Paul's damage?) but quite a few Protestant denominations have pretty much gotten over it. They KNOW they won't survive unless they allow both men and women to serve. Especially since women are some of the most devout members of any church.

My best friend was telling me that her mother and all of her old female friends are the only ones who go to mass. Catholic churches are packed with little old ladies. Now, I know those little old ladies would most like turn their noses up at female priests, but since when does one's sex have to do with ones ability to hear God or serve God or preach the word of God! It is ridiculous. But then, I'm not Catholic. I went to one mass and I thought I was going to gouge my eyes out in boredom.
