You know brightstar, we might actually agree on something. I personally don't think any man is worth 1) black eyes and broken ribs 2) dead pets 3) getting crazy and killing anyone over.

It's hard for me to be compassionate to woman who get themselves in those sort of situations, especially nowadays. I can understand how it happened before domestic shelters, when women had little or no recource under the law, but it's not like that now. I've never had a man put his hands on me, and if a guy ever did, he might be able to win the fight, but he'd better never sleep, eat, or relax in my presence again.

And It's bad enough they let themselves get beat, but then to watch someone abuse a pet or a child! How can you sit back and allow that! I mean, he'd have a fucking knife in his back, a frying pan upside his head, and he'd better hope there weren't any open windows nearby.

I was raised that way, though. My grandmother used to get the crap beaten out of her by her 2nd husband, and it took my uncles (all 5 of them) putting a smack down on their father t of epic proportions to finally stop him from knocking her around whenever he tied one on. Even then, my grandmother was on her stupid ass husband's side; she always said that the confrontation killed him. (He had a heart attack a year later. I suppose breaking your wife's nose can be stress reliever.)

But she was from an older generation and was pretty damn man-crazy to boot. My mother, maybe because she wasn't raised with her mother, and lived with a lot of strong woman, has always been openly contemptous of her mother's weaknesses when it came to men.

I've really tried to be compassionate and understanding, to say these women are damaged in some profound way (really, as damaged as the men who beat them) but it is really hard. I feel empathy for them, but sympathy, well, its hard.

And as for the men who torture a friggin' dog or a child...it brings out the Marcellus Wallace in me. I would love to go medievel on their asses, get some pliers, a blow torch, and show that what it feels like to be helpless.

I see what your saying, but the logical thing to do, especially in this day and age, is to not get yourself in the situation in the first place. There are always warning signs, and its important to take a cold, hard, logical look at the people you surround yourself with, epsecially with the person you want to marry.

Even the dumbest little chicken knows when there's a fox in the henhouse, but it's like the danger-sensing gene is lacking in women in those sort of situation. And men, too. Maybe it is lacking in all human beings. Or maybe human beings are just dumber than the so-called dumb creatures.

I just want to say, I'm not blaming the victims, even if I sound harsh. Its just domestic violence pisses me off so much. I think its great to look at the root causes of why it happens, etc., and why women stay, but if you want it to end then I think focusing on that will only get you so far. Jailing offenders doesn't help because men and women who batter are sick fucks.

So the only thing you can do is try to teach people to have enough self preservation and self esteem to recognize the sick fucks for what they are and stay the hell away from them.

Why do you judge Obama based on his supporters? What do you want Obama to do, monitor the Salon and Huffpost message boards and chastise his supporters whenever they use misogynistic language? He's fired anyone who has said nasty things about Clinton (like the Monster comment) in public, and he has no control whatsoever over the pundits, the politicians who endorse him, etc., say or do. If Obama doesn't treat Clinton with respect, then I can understand your point, but it just seems unfair to judge Obama based on a bunch of vocal rabble rousers on a message board who may or may not be paid trolls. Or even campaign workers, who are by nature, a little fanatical (on both sides.)

You can vote independent for Clinton if she decided to run a third party campaign, but don't you think that would be an AWFUL idea. It would destroy the party, seriously. There would be no way in hell either of them, Obama or Clinton, would win. In that scenario, and since Clinton is the type of person she is, I would hope Obama would drop out. (I know right, awful) rather than allow the party to fall apart.

  • I'm sorry, Obamanomics? Really?

[Read the article: Can Obama do more than "nudge"?]

    Obamabots

    Obamapaths

    Obamamania

    and now...

    obamanomics!

    What's next?

Obamaphobic - irrational fear of Obama

obamaism - the ideology of Obama.

obamainity - the worship of Obama.

Obamaphile - irrational love of Obama?

I like Obama. I think he's pretty cool. But this is getting so ridiculous. Are we going to have to start putting Obama in front of everything if he gets elected? Am I going to have start saying, have a Obama-tastic Day and you're Obama-riffic? Or how about, Obama you! Handy, did you obama the roof on the obama?

That's right, our potential president has become a smurf. So stop already with Obama-damn Obama-shit.
