  • I don't know, Anne

[Read the article: Who put this feminism in my porno?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I do think porn does shape the way men and women see sex. Case in point: back door action. I know this particular act isn't new to the lexicon, but I think porn has made some men think 1) it's easy 2) all women love it, or should love it and your uptight if you don't do it. Not all men, and there are plenty of progressive and wonderful men who probably read books and do research, etc, but if another guy I'm dating tries to go for this particular doorway, even though I've said it ain't gonna happen bub, like I'm a porn star who has been stretched, lubricated, and has probably had the whole cast and crew up there at some point, I'm going to give up sex all together. End rant.

As for feminist porn, I say women should go for it. Pornography has become increasingly hard for me to watch the older I get; I identify with the woman, and some of the things they do look damn uncomfortable. (see above rant.) Also, since your average porn starlet is unnattractive to me, the whole focus of the camera, etc, turns me off. I'd like to see some hot guys, and it would be nice to see porn about female pleasure.

  • San Franscisco and Prius don't mix

[Read the article: Beware the ninja Prius]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Someone earlier on the thread made a comment about Prius drivers in San Francisco, and I have to say, that when I lived there, SF had one of the highest pedestrian vs. car/cable car/tram/electric bus/conventional bus/ bike courier traffic accident rates in the country. I was working at one of the television stations, and I swear, while Oakland was tallying the number of murders, SF was all about the folks getting run down. We did a lot of stories about it. Well, about as many as we did about the gang problem in Oakland, which is to say, two or three...

I shudder to think what it's like now with all of those ninja priuses. The roads must run red with the blood of wounded pedestrians.

  • My Down Home Newspaper

[Read the article: Cleric: Unveiled women burn men to ash]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This is a little off thread, but it speaks to how crazy all religous folks can be:

There was this whole letter thread at my newspaper about how contraceptives are evil, as evil as abortion, and one poster said that as soon as they got rid of the latter, they were going to ban birth control pills, condoms, and IUDs. Anytime a couple uses contraceptives they are cheating that potential child out of God's love. That was weird enough, but what was WORSE was how another poster said that we had to breed Christian soldiers for the jihad. That poster actually implied he wanted to start it now. (Argh.)

Now, I'm not trying to say the actions of Christain Extremists are at all equal to Islamic Extremists. I've read people on this website say Christain fundamentalists are like this and that, but I'm sorry, I thought you guys were just biased. But to actually read someone, who isn't from the 7th century, write how they are excited for the upcoming jihad/crusade/ or whatever and to say, without a hint of irony, that they are having as many children as possible to be warriors...well it's just creepy.

  • FRIDAY...FRIDAY...FRIDAY...AKA SMITH vs. HUTMAN in a steel cage MATCH!

[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Can I just say, you two are comedy. I don't even know why you two bother debating. I gotta big ol' backyard, and I'd be mroe than happy to construct a steel cage death match for you two.

    But here's my two cents:

I think a lot of the "fights" between Obama and Clinton have been over exaggerated. If you want dirty, then just look at what the Republicans did to McCAin in 2000. Or the swiftboating of John Kerry.

To be honest, despite the fact that Clinton thinks words aren't as important as actions, the only "fighting" that has gone on between them has been about words. It has been about which supporter said what, denouncing and rejecting someones comments. Clinton hasn't said anything about Rezko has she? (Probably because she has some ties to him.) Obama hasn't brought up any of the numerous scandals in her past? Has he even joked about the whole Bosnia thing?

I'm sorry you guys, but this has been a pretty civil nominating process; it's just so gosh darn long that we're all stressed out. Can you imagine what it must be like for people working in the campaign? Maybe that's why they are so friggin sensitive about every little thing.

And neither of you guys ( I won't even bother engaging with the more unstable Obamatons and Clintonistas) are helping the cause of Democratic Party by making a mountain out of mole hill over the fairytale comment, or the monster jibe, or the jesse jackson comment. The truth is, since these fights are all about words not deeds, they can be interpreted in any number of ways.

As for the sexism, I was literally sick watching that little you tube video. Why is it that criticisms against women often have nothing to do with their character but about their very womanness?
