What upsets me about Ferraro's Comments
[Read the article: Hillary's race against time]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't think it implies Obama has gotten this far because black people have voted for him in the election (the proverbial 90% black racist vote) but because it implies the ONLY reason white people vote for him is because he's black.
It's like she's saying he's the affirmative action canidate, white guilt is driving people to vote for him, etc, when I don't beleive that's the case at all. Look, in terms of legislative experience, both Hillary and Obama are comprable. Ferraro herself didn't have a lot of legislative experience when she ran for VP. And don't forget George Bush; being Governor sure doesn't give you that much foreign policy experience. How does one explain him getting so far with such a thin resume? Sure, Clinton was the first lady, but she didn't have a national security clearance. She might know world leaders (if they are still in power from 8 years ago) personally, but that doesn't mean they are her best friends and they chat every day over tea and crumpets.
I'm sick of Clinton supporters (the ones who write articles and work on the campaign) treating Obama supporters like idiots, reverse racists, racists, and cult members. They need us if Clinton gets the nomination. I'm fine with them attacking Obama directly; that's the nature of politics. But it seems stupid to alienate the cross section of voters who support Obama. Those votes are the ones which will put her over the top in November, if she gets the nomination. She should be kissing our tails.
I hate to say it, (and anecdotal evidence should be taken with a grain of salt) but a lot of the people I know who support Obama won't vote for McCain in the election; they just won't vote at all. Which isn't going to be good for the Democratic party.
Not me of course. If it comes down to it, I'll pull the lever for Clinton.

I find this whole thread
[Read the article: Misadventures in logical reasoning -- and lessons learned from the Spitzer scandal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Incredibly upsetting. On many different levels. My blood hasn't boiled this much since the first Obama/Clinton thread I had the misfortune of reading.
I don't know; as someone who has known the high priced variety of call girls, it's hard for me to see it as anything other than a choice on their part. While I was making 480/week as an assistant, they were raking in 1,000-2,000 dollars night to screw famous and semi-famous people. Their pimp took a percentage, but if he called them and they said no, he didn't come over to their house and beat the crap out of them.
I am, in no way, shape or form saying my aquaintances and neighbors are the norm. When they weren't screwing guys outright for money as prostitutes, they were manipulating their "boyfriends" to pay their rents, car notes, jewelry and various fashion acoutrements. These girls, who were great to me, (one actually paid my rent for me for awhile because again, 480/week) saw men as walking penises with wallets.
I think the problem with some women on this thread is that they don't like to think there are women out there like this, who can treat sex and their body like a commodity. They want to beleive all women think like they do, and feel the same way as they do, and anyone who disagrees with their dogma has the female equivelent of a "slave mentality." Perhaps. They feel like it perpetuates a negative stereotype about women which will be to all women's detriment. Perhaps.

[Read the article: Misadventures in logical reasoning -- and lessons learned from the Spitzer scandal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Male sex workers can scew anyone because men are by nature vile and nasty beasts who only want sex and aren't penetrated...oh wait...what I mean to say is since men are always horny, the feelings of a male sex worker are of no consequence. Even when they are "forced" to have sex with vile and disgusting men (or women.)
Just little levity...nobody hurt me please.

I don't know why people love to hate Ms. Tina
[Read the article: Misadventures in logical reasoning -- and lessons learned from the Spitzer scandal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But we do...we really do. When I saw Glenn's post, all I could think was, oh snap, what's Tina gonna say? She's gonna be maaaad....
I do think the piling up on her has gotten ridiculous, but whenever I feel sorry for her, she usually repays my soft nature by calling someone a misogynist or implying Kstone has a fantasy life involving high class hookers because he doesn't think a black slave (let's say a female one who has to service the master or risk a disfiguring or possibly lethal beating with a whip soaked in salt) is comprable to a high class whore like Kristen. Who at least gets paid for it. And can use that money, presumambly, to buy herself out of whatever horrible situation that may have drove her to prostitution in the first place.
I don't know, as a black woman, descended from slaves, I find her argument incredibly offensive. Especially since there's quite a bit of "cream" in my family tree. Now, if she wants to compare sex slaves to black slaves, then I'll concede the point.

Proof Godmonkey
[Read the article: What the Poling autism case means]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Please provide studies/statistics/etc to back up your claims that
1) The diseases we vaccinated against in the 18th century were already disappearing from the world.
2)A large number of people in the developing world who are vaccinated get the disease anyway. (Which how could they since the diseases were already disappearing anyway.)
Also, please list WHICH vaccines you are talking about.
Thanks.
