If John McCain thinks that postponing the first debate with Obama is going to pay off for him politically he is sadly mistaken. He used Hurricane Gustav to keep Bush from speaking at the Republican convention, he keeps Palin away from reporters and only has photo ops for her with world leaders as if that gives her international credibility. Now he wants to duck the debate because his poll numbers are declining since this Wall Street debacle. A debacle I might add that happened on the Republican's watch, and now he wants to have the taxpayers help alleviate this mess with a bailout for a bunch of greedy fat cats. The Republicans have been in the back pocket of these same greedy fat cats! This makes me so angry! Why would anyone think that McCain is going to change Washington and business as usual when he has been a part of it for a quarter of a century? People wake up and pay attention to what is going on in this country. Quit this nonsense of letting McCain off the hook for this crap that has been perpetrated on the American people by the Bush administration and their cronies like McCain. I don't care if he was the "Happy Warrior" POW. Now he is just an old confused man who will do or say anything to be the president. He only wants to be president because that has been his ambition, not for the good of the country. And for all you disgruntled Hillary voters - get over it - and vote for your economic and social issues that Democrats have always stood for. This is too serious an election to be petulant and sulking because "your girl" didn't win the Democratic nomination.

BillyFla believes that McCain got that lazy eye fixed so that is why he is now willing to participate in Friday's debate. Then Tideswimmer wants to know how McCain can look at himself in the mirror. Well it would be a little hard to focus on seeing himself with that lazy eye thing going on. Apparently that is why his campaign has been so unfocused also. They must all have a lazy eye problem - but of course they will probably blame that on the Democrats too!

Are you really going to sit here and talk some B.S. about how you understand Palin's answer as to why she had no passport to travel outside the U.S.? The "coastal elites" just look down their noses at you poor girls. You never hear this kind of crap coming from Obama who definitely did not come from some elite silver spoon background but he can surely hold his own with anyone no matter which side of the tracks they come from. And BTW those shameful nepotistic ties that you refer too - um, let's see isn't that how we got Bush 1 and 2, and now McCain who barely graduated from Annapolis but was helped because of his daddy and grandaddy being big name admirals in the navy?

Are you going to tell me that Obama has gotten a free ride from the media throughout this political process!?!? You are kidding right? McCain has said the press was his base and for the most part he has not been given much scrutiny from the MSM - until now. But still he is given somewhat of a pass because of his goodwill with the press from 2000, and his being a POW and all. Give it a rest already. The MSM needs to show this man and his running mate for what they really are and not give them the benefit of the doubt every time some flip-flop or gaffe comes from their campaign. And as for mainstream America - well if Obama wasn't a young black man he would be getting higher poll numbers.
