  • Let the kids die

"Brilliant! You got at the (twisted, dark) heart of their logic."

No. The twisted, dark heart of their logic is that a sick child deserves to remain sick or die because her mother made a "bad" choice. Parents "irresponsible"? Tough luck, kids. Choose better next time

  • Let Florida Vote

No one needs reminding of Florida's importance in winning the general election. Democrats cannot afford to lose even one Florida voter disgruntled because the state party disenfranchised them. With a popular governor behind him, McCain will run strongly in Florida. Neither his age, nor his positions on Irag and immigration will hurt him there. By contrast, Obama has serious problems with two key Florida constituencies: Latinos and Jews. Governor Christ has already agreed to devote state funds to a Democratic primary so let him do it. Let the two candidates go down and campaign their hearts out. I think it's Hillary country but if Obama can solve his Latino/Jewish problems then he deserves to head the ticket. If not, Democrats need the candidate who can carry the state in November.

  • The Florida-Michigan problem

It's not correct to say that the Democrats in Florida and Michigan were in "flagrant violation" of DNC rules; Wayne Barrett has an excellent (although lengthy) analysis of the problem here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/wayne-barrett/could-the-republicans-cou_b_94158.html.

In short, the local Democrats were sandbagged by the Republican state legislatures. The DNC made a big mistake by decreeing that the primaries wouldn't count. What they should have done is allowed them to go forward and then halved the states' delegate count.

What they should do now is allow a REVOTE! You cannot simply disenfranchise two states that the Democrats badly need in November.
