I live in Boulder, and I thought I saw someone who looks an awful lot like Rove buying organic peaches, a little sushi, some castor oil, and empsom salts. Phew, for a second I thought I was seeing things!
Whether we're paying people to touch us with dollars or with dinner, we're paying. That is, affection is an exchange -- of love, of tenderness, of gratitude. When it's an exchange for money, well, that's at least a transparent transaction.
"The people to be the most frightened of are the people who are the most frightened." (Infinite Jest, 204).
Wallace, ultimately, was not frightened, I think. I think he was tired of the emptiness that comes along with clinical depression, and the pain. Michelle Obama's behind has absolutely no bearing on her being First Lady, First Mom, First Wife, or First Lawyer, for that matter. I don't pay Salon to read garbage I could find free on PerezHilton.

Can someone PLEASE fix the word-o in the photo caption to this story? Unless you really mean "crowed" and not "crowd."
Me too. On all counts.

I hope this book serves to help the general public be a bit more kind about mental illness in general.
First her butt, now her hair. Once again, with feeling: HOW ABOUT HER BRAIN?
Thanks. I feel better. Also, I did not renew my Salon subscription in January for this very reason: the quality of Salon content has plummeted.
Wow, I thought this had jumped the shark before the Times ran their article. Now it's jumped TWO sharks, and so can we leave it alone and focus, people, on pertinent issues regarding our culture? Thanks.
