I'm not sure what country Kamiya is living in but considering the FBI just reported an increase in race-based hate crimes (including the proliferation of noose hangings across the country), it doesn't seem likely that race is dying in the US. Black people's relationship to "blackness" may be changing but neither structural racism nor overt discrimination seems to be abating in the way that Kamiya "imagines" that it is. And the treatment of Americans from the Middle East after 9/11 exemplifies the protean nature of racism. Even if blacks were "let off the hook" for a minute while the US targeted people who "looked" Middle Eastern, that is not a suggestion that race is dying, only that it manifests differently at different moments.
tele_dan got it right. I'm ready to stop reading Salon. Everyday another angle on Palin. Geez. Can we move on from her? FYI, McCain is the Republican candidate for President NOT Palin. All this shoddy journalism about her is just a distraction from the real issues.

Even the title of the show turns me off.
