Sooooooo Not Funny...

Wow, is it me? Am I getting old and humorless? Of all the possible "funny" Father's Day videos - this is what you post? Yuck!!!

Holliday was first...

Credit must be given for Jennifer Holliday's amazing portrayal of Effie and that show-stopping song performance. Maybe Hudson will be as good, I certainly am anxious to see the film and decide for myself. But, even if she is great, Holliday did it first and that has to count for something.

I always thought it was just me that found something amazingly therapuetic about her gut-wrenching performance! In my early twenties, I spent hours listening to her sing that song (on vinyl!) and it gave me comfort and courage. Good story about a great song and singer.

Hadn't he already been to rehab?

Whoa, I bet the current Mrs. Affleck never saw this or it would have been a deal-breaker! My husband once flirted with a nurse while drugged and awaiting surgery. The entire episode was "You're really pretty" - but I was mortified! Poor Jennifer Garner.

Heather makes me happy!

Reading Heather Havrilesky's ongoing commentary about this season of "Top Chef" was really more entertaining than the show! Naming Marcel the Heat Miser was the kind of obscure, snarky, and genius observation I hope for when reading Salon and Heather's pieces especially.

Original article: The longest day ever

Oh good, its not just me!

I almost fell asleep last night, when I wasn't snickering at the absurd dialogue. This show has been appointment TV for my family for several years now and I am sad! Terrorist fear-mongering has brought my little nuclear family together every Monday night and I would hate to lose that. Not to mention how we say everything to each other in Jack speak - first with a husky whisper and then repeat same line screaming. Ah, how I miss those simple times. I never warmed up to Audrey anyway so for Jack to risk it all for her - ehh, I don't get it. My son did notice the return of the Jack sack in last night's episode so he felt all warm and fuzzy! I just hope the writers are really gonna suprise us - there's a plot twist for ya.

survive

Be kind to yourself as you take the scary steps to get help.

My story is similar. My therapist often spoke of my "pilot light" that kept burning through all the depression, substance abuse and suicidal behavior. Your letter to Cary is evidence of your pilot light - you and others may not even know it is burning, but it is there holding all the dreams of a safe and happy life for you. Survive.

love this show

My 23 year old son harangued me until I watched this show with him. He had me watch the mini-series first and then I just picked it up where it was, mid second season, and I've been watching ever since. I am hooked. I simply sit back and enjoy the ride and don't spend too much time trying to figure it out! I plan to savor every moment left and let the great minds and personalities of Galactica figure it all out and let me in on it right at the very end!
