I know it infuriates you (it infuriates me as well), but our side can't spout off in this media climate like the other side can. We are trying to appeal to potential voters. That's a special subset of the electorate-at-large and that subset (IMO) is more conservative than every citizen in U.S. age 18 or older.

By the way, what is a 'concern troll'?

    -- Paul in KY

Then how come, according to all polls, the general public continues to think that Patraeus is a tool for the administration, and that every thing he said about the "surge" working and things getting better in Iraq was bullshit?

A concern troll is someone who comes to a board like this and tells us to "Shut up and Sing" or we will be pilloried. You know, for our own good?

'Concern trolls' are a disingenuous lot. If you really believe the shit/concern that you're posting, then I consider you to be incredibly incorrect rather than a concern troll.

Dude or dudette, I don't give a shit if I'm in the majority or minority on this. I have my opinion & I'm giving it. You have yours & you're giving it.

    I'm a dude.

The entire premise and purpose of your posts has been about the MoveOn ad hurting us as a majority opinion. So you just contradicted and shot full of holes everything you've been posting all day.

I'm not sure I understand just what it is you want to have happen, but maybe you would have better luck if you would show up at Walter Reed Hospital every day and voice your non-support.

why be such an asshole, Kitt?

would you have me to go to a cancer ward and lecture on smoking? IT'S TOO LATE BY THEN! i want enlisting to be socially condemned so people WON'T enlist. don't you think my sons thought the military grand? all young men are like that. i did my job as a parent and dissuaded them. as any here can attest, my abilities to persuade are severely limited, that's why, as a first step i want those who shout and cheer our troops on as heroic and brave, STOP! like cindy sheehan did, except more of you. and especially you, Kitt. it's people like you who cut off the legs of the next generation.

Are there enough straw men in there, Sugarman?

Lots of people "did there job as a parent" on many issues, only to have their efforts fall on deaf ears. Did they then harangue their kids after they went their own way? Some did. Some didn't, I suppose.

I'm not being an 'asshole" Sugarman. I'm asking you to back off. I've been long aware of the phrase, "What if they threw a war and nobody showed up?" I've always loved that phrase and have wished that it, just as John Lennon's song, "Imagine", would some day come to pass. In the meantime, I'm not going to call every kid or even every young or older adult who chooses to answer the call and then finds themselves in combat in a situation that is unjust at one time or another, the 'problem'.

    --Sugarman

Why, "especially" me? Please explain. I "cut off the legs". WTF are you talking about?

Many people may or may not remember MoveOn's gaff a year from now. I hope they don't. But can we please get smarter between now and then and not piss off the very people we will need to mark the ballot in favor of a Democrat over a Republican?

    -- Garry Owen

MoveOn will still be around when the ballots are cast, and MoveOn will have aired several more ads before and during that time.

What you either don't get or won't admit is that the people we will need to mark a ballot in favor of a Democrat over a Republican aren't pissed at MoveOn. They don't think MoveOn made a "gaff". And some who might think so also realize that the noise machine are a tools. So that still doesn't equate to them casting a ballot for the tools, does it?

    kitt, retired and, dirks

it's a pity you have to call someone an asshole to get a response, but at least you are thinking.

Seeing how I've been responding, and thinking, all day, I don't guess you do need to call someone and asshole to get a response or to make them think. So, once again, I don't know what the hell you mean by what you post.

    kitts, i'll try again

if you make the military seem honorable and heroic, brave young men will enlist. so i wish to make it seem ugly so they don't. is that so difficult to understand?

    -- david sugarman

I don't know who you think you are conversing with, but it isn't me. I don't glorify the military or make it seem honorable or speak of taking part in this horrid war seem honorable or heroic, or make posts about glory or honor or heroics.

You seem to be having a ball pretending that you are the adult talking to some wet behind the ears kid. It ain't me that you're talking to, because I don't espouse the shit that you attribute to me.

Is that so f'ing hard to understand
