You must be skeptical of everything you read and consider the sources, history, and common sense. The internet is a two edge sword -- The capacity for misinformation and propaganda being spewed equals the potiential for the truth to get around the attempts to suppress it.

I find that it is extremely easy to find out if I am being told truth or lies. There's nothing to it, really. One just needs to make the effort. Links upon links upon links are readily available.

Great minds and great writers are on the internet and I have found them and they have helped me to find other great minds and great writers. Glenn Greenwald is a good example. And...here I am reading Greenwald. Jane Hamsher is another. Thus, the link I just provided for the readers here at Greenwald's blog.

I'm not missing your point.

You've restated your point again in the sentence below, and I could not possibly disagree more than I do with your point.

Blogs don't generally report the news with any level of journalistic skill or training,

I completely disagree. The blogs I read are written by extremely well informed writers who have extremely high levels of skill, background and expertise. The blog you are commenting on now? Take a look at Glenn Greenwald's bio that he has postted. Read one or both of his books. See if you think he has journalistic skill. In fact, it's hard to believe you are making these comments in this forum if you have read Glenn's posts.

At Firedoglake we have legal scholars beyond belief in Christy Harden Smith, Marcy Wheeler and others. There just aren't any smarter or well informed people around then the ones who I have discovered on blogs.

The nearly worhless MSM depended on the reporting of Firedoglake to get the facts about what was taking place during the Libby trial

The nearly worthless MSM has depended on Josh Marshall at talkingpoints memo to get a grasp for what happened and continues to happen with the firings at the corrupt Justice Department.

I can't speak for those who are so foolish as to read and believe the writings of, for example, the stunningly dishonest AssRocket at Powerline, and the others on his blog.

"What you don't seem to want to admit,..."

I think I made myself clear. You continue to misconstrue what I've been saying. Sorry you are missing my points. Can't help you beyond how much I already have.

Michael Harold

I'm a big fan of most all of the blogs you mentioned. Thanks for your input. Nothing more to add. Thanks.

Where is commenter, Explorer, Today?

There have been many posts of this type on Glenn's blog, and it is posts of this type that I was using to try to explain to someone named 'Explorer' the other day, who was trying to make points for "real journalists" as opposed to "not real journalists" so called bloggers.

@RealName

Glenn Greenwald

So your basic complaint is that the Op-Ed bleeds into the rest of the paper. Golly Gee I hope it doesn't turn into a blog.

-- RealName

I thought you said your work was done here. Then you told us to f'off. Please keep your word and be "done here".

RealName, Done Gone?

@Kitt

Your role as craven chorus is duly noted. Proceed to the egress where you will receive one cookie for meritorious service.

@ Retired Military Patriot

You DO know your idol defended Matthew Hale, yes? I mean as long as you're talking out of your ass about free speech and other such shit you know zero about...

-- RealName

Would I be guessing incorrectly if I were to guess that you intended be funny or clever with these comments of yours, RealName?

@ Yet Another Anon

"Every act of terrorism or insurgency in Iraq is an act of theater, and the audience for those performance is the American electorate"

The arrogance and self-importance and self-indulgence of that statement is almost as demented as the words heard in many of George Bush's and/or Dick Cheney's speeches and interviews.

Making it up

"Why yes, you wrote a lot of words trying to make LBJ look like a saint."

--Bucky1

One more 'bucky' sentence perfectly in line with his MO. Make shit up, as it were. That's Bucky all over the board at every turn. Ever so stale.

"Kitt, you are just a little hit and run slander artist. I hope being a toady keeps you warm at night, because that is all you are going to get out of this."

See? That sentence and your use of "toady" and the rest of that reply to me was the same old crap you've used before. Exactly the same. Not to mention your stupid 'headline'. Same boring crap from you over and over again.

Karen on Viter

Shouldn't the public be allowed to make an "informed choice" on whether Senator Vitter's public policy/personal values are really good enough... or even adequate... not for him, since he's an adult and can decide for himself, but for themselves-- before they vote for him. Or before they vote for those he would similarly endorse, such as Candidate Giuliani? More importantly, before he votes on anything of substance, but I guess we're already past that threshhold.

-- Karen M

To me it isn't as much about the subject content as it is about the guy was brazenly lying in our faces. Not for just a blip in time, but for nearly the entire span of his political career. Plus he was living a lie while, for political purposes, promoting another lie. Putting aside the ever useless excuse that all politicians lie, I'm talking about degrees here that are equal to that of Dick Cheney...off the map. If one is that bold and that dishonest, and for that long, then what is left?
