Most of the neocons, whatever you think of the policies they espouse, are highly intelligent and academically accomplished people. But the media aren't intimidated or envious of them. There's still more going on, although in the end, I think this is part of it.

    -- Martin Gale

Does that include Doug Feith, "the fucking stupidest guy on the face of the earth"?

But, as they say, seriously...compare Limbaugh and, say, doughy pantload Jonah Goldber - and his mom - and Tucker Carlson to Glenn Greenwald. The intelligence level comparison screams with 'please help the poor also-rans tie their shoes this morning'. Else they'll trip and fall on their way to the poddy.

  • Invoking God on Our Side

The right relationship to God and/or the universe (and just incidentally a statistically demonstrable improved chance of actually being right) is only possible for those who are capable of seeing the difference between Crockett's arrogance and Lincoln's less arrogant “Let us do the right as God gives us to see the right.”

    -- sysprog

Both Generals, Grant of the Union, and General Lee of the Confederacy, had "God" on their side. Sweet!

If he [Chris Mathews] refuses, you could tell him and us that your assumptions about the MSM and their hollow statements that they would not repeat the errors made before the Iraq invasion, are valid.

    -- Retired Military Patriot

I don't think Glenn needs a turn down by the vapid Chris Mathews to confirm that our - and Glenn's - assumptions about the MSM are valid.

In my humble opinion Hardball, or any other Chris Mathews hosted show, would be so way below Glenn's dignity that I would prefer that he not volunteer to give face time to such a circus. There are much better venues than an appearance with Chris Mathews for Glenn Greenwald to 'get the word out'.

    SWEET!!!

    Heh.

    -- shooter242

Poor Boomerang242 shoots his wad at the ugliest whores to have ever disgraced the planet.

That is some sorry state of mind. Honestly. What a sad, sad case is the so called Shooter242.

  • Tell me it Ain't so

Bush apparently feels that it's to his advantage to avoid telling the truth, and instead to tell something else which ain't so.

    -- sysprog

Sysprog? Would that statement not describe the liar-in-chief's entire life story? We have been cursed with a pathological person sitting in the catbird seat of President of the United States. What a tragedy this has been.

  • Our Miss Brooks

That's our Mr. Brooks. Sharp as a button and cute as a tack.

    -- sysprog

Sysprog, you must be older than barn paint. "Our Miss Brooks". Beloved TV show from the 1950's.

Hey man, it was a great show. This one we're witnessing today is not.

Will the citizens see and hear? And if they do, will they care? That remains to discover.

    No kings,

    Robert

    -- Desert Son

Very well written comment Robert. Quite entertaining.

I see near to, or even sub, 20% approval in the fool's rating coming to light in the very near future.

Too bad you can't even tell a fucking joke without sounding like and asshole.

But just as a rhetorical method, might it not be more effective to introduce a little wit or humor? Or at least the appearance of even-handedness? I can imagine a Republican or centrist reading your posts and just (incorrectly) dismissing them as extremist liberal hackery ... you might get a wider readership with a little less vitriol!

    -- jtp118

So you think Glenn would do well to lie or pussy foot around so that the "centrists" (Whateverthefuckacentristis) and the so called "Republicans" would read his writings?

Take it on the road, jt. Been there, done that. It ain't for shit.

Ethos, pathos, and logos... I think Glenn has them all covered. Would that other writers on political matters could do as well. He consistently writes in good faith. We cannot ask for more than that.

    -- Karen M

I guess that entire post of yours was an elaboration of my comment to jt? ;o)

Besides, that issue of "voice" is also something that I am passionate about.

    ;~)

    -- Karen M

Yes. Imagine if Joyce Carol Oates tried to simulate the voice of Raymond Carver.

    Late Fragment

And did you get what you wanted from this life even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.

What interesting selections under the circumstances, Oates and Carver, both of whom seem(ed) (to me) to write against "type,"

I might be misinterpreting your comment. But if not, I read it that you have read Carver, and especially Oates, to become someone she or he is not in the pov of their characters in short stories and novels. She, Oates, to coin a phrase, blows my mind with the characters she brings to life. I don't have the guts to expose myself as she does. She leaves me agape.

    Wanna bet?

    -- tom payne

The boy king is at 28% and soon to drop after this disgusting FU to the rule of law and the American people. Yep, I wanna bet that Fred Thompson doesn't have a chance in hell of winning, and that the house and Senate will grow in numbers on the Democratic side.

  • Shooter?

[Read the article: Lewis Libby owes his freedom to our corrupt political elite]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Libby was convicted of obstruction of justice and of perjury. Convicted of, shooter, not just accused of.

Then he was sentenced for those crimes by a judge who was following the sentencing guidelines in respect to those crimes.

Is there any reason why you would voice a defense of the criminal, Scooter Libby, beyond you just being stupid and blind to the reality of the situation?
