speaking of trading in for a newer model

...It's amazing how many politicians love to self-righteously tout what a "sacred and traditional cultural bond" is the male-female marital union even as they parade around with their much-younger latest wife, whom they met while still enmeshed in a "sacred and traditional bond" with their first wife.

You talkin' about George Mitchell? the guy who doesn't recognize Hamas as the legitimate government in Gaza, despite their electoral win?

for divadab

From what I heard the other night, geithner was previously audited for failure to pay self-employment taxes, BEFORE this most recent incident. He even submitted the amount for reimbursement from his contracting agency. The only conclusion one can make is that he thought he could get away with it; that he wouldn't be caught a second time. He obviously feels entitled to cheat the U.S. government. As head of the IRS will he extend to us the same largess?

If your brain shrinks from watching cable news programs

Maybe you shouldn't be doing that. I try to watch a little bit of 'Cheaters' in the morning. Now THAT's entertainment, and easily as informative as the news shows.

Populist

During the 2000 election cycle, I was very impressed with how much sarcasm and negativity the word 'populist' was applied to Al Gore, himself a true insider. For the talking heads, populism means 'the will of the people', which can only translate as 'pitchforks and torches'.

It's not surprising

that the hometown paper of Langley, VA would pitch a fit over the indictment of c.i.a. agents. Now, aside from the human rights violations aspect of the case, I would assume simple kidnapping is illegal in Italy, and Italy has a sovereign right to bring kidnappers to trial. That's the essence of souvereignity.

Commissions....schmissions

We've had plenty of commissions: warren, iran-contra, 9-11. Every one of them turned out to be CYA for the c.i.a. I hope I'm wrong, really.

On Hillary's motivations

A few months ago I heard an interview with someone who wrote for The Nation, and his take was that Hillary had an encyclopedic memory regarding foreign policy details, and had an extremely warm relationship with many foreign leaders. IMHO, looking at the current crop of U.S. Senators, I can see why she would want out. Judging from my own (one former) senators, Biden and Carper, I have trouble thinking of a more dim-witted pair. She possibly just got tired of dealing day in and day out with the same petty, greedy, over-coiffed band of self-important sociopaths. And I think that HRC really wants to get something done in her life, as opposed to just looking important while stirring the same fetid pot of slop. If the dems as a whole were really serious about doing anything, then they would have worked for a Democratic win in the GA run-off, which would have given them 60 seats. But the bright light of expectations was too much for them to handle, so the huffed and puffed back to their comfortable 59-seat majority, knowing that this would insure a few more years of fine photo-ops and substance-free employment.

Clinton did just that

When President Clinton was granted the line-item veto, he very carefully used it in a situation where it would end up in court. The administration lost the case, and Clinton was probably relieved. But the point is he put it to a test situation before going all ape-shit in using it. I see no such sincerity on the part of the Obama administration, and it looks like they like the power and want to continue to use it, probably on you and me. We are in a very scary legal realm right now, where civil disturbances are equated with terrorism, and soon will be right of assembly, and pretty soon, grumblers will be branded as enemy combattants.

Original article: The agenda of Chuck Schumer

It's a 3-step process

-Vote for foreign aid for Israel

-Some of that money goes to AIPAC

-Some of that money then goes to complicit congress-personnell

Until all federal campaigns are 100% publicly financed, this will not stop. The whole fucking scam is run using OUR money. The congress is literally taking our money to pay themselves, it's just being laundered through Israel. If that money were not allowed to come back to the coffers of the congress, the game would stop.

What cramer did was illegal

He engaged in stock manipulation, despite what he said in the interview. The internet is full of stories about his behavior. Contrary to what he stated on the interview, he would talk down a stock on his show for the sole purpose of shorting it. He should be in jail, plain and simple. Stock manipulation is a crime.
