NBC, being owned by general electric, maker of all sorts of death-hardware, is guilty of this behavior to the core. hare clear FCC stipulations to broadcast 'in the public interest'. Their statement to the NYT, and their ongoing deceit throughout the last 8 years shows clear contempt for the 'public interest'. It took the radical-right 30 years to get Dan Rather, it's time to go after nbc, imo.
It is to laugh at that all friedman's images are of fictional and/or cartoon characters. He seems to be able to talk only in terms of trite, shallow, 2-dimensional images, as if he were addressing a group of kindergarteners. Others have mentioned several factors which (as usual) lead me to believe that friedman is paid by the c.i.a. Several points may be worth considering:
-as mentioned, the nyt is losing $$, and has cut news staff.
However, tommy seems to have an unlimited travel budget. Knowing that the very rich don't pay for anything (ie. he is not self-funded), his travel funds may be coming from 'somewhere else'.
-his 'arguments' always seem to fit those one assumes of the c.i.a.: return to the good old days of the cold war, perpetual militarism, hegemony, and pro-m.i.c. None of his reasons deviate from some inherent benefit to the c.i.a.
-his excuses for militarism are completely red-herring; he never discusses any of the real reasons behind the wars.
After he took a swipe at general wm. westmoreland, the right went after Rather relentlessly, until they finally suckered him with the fake TANG memo. I saw the crowds (of obvious agents provocateurs) at the RNC yelling "NBC, NBC", so that NBC would have an excuse to demote Olberman.
The web site for the FCC clearly mentions operating "in the public interest". The airwaves are OURS, NBC is renting the frequency. It's time that the appropriate congressional and senatorial committee chairs start getting letters.
And tom brokaw! The clown that made a career out of sucking up to the WW II generation while simultaneously spitting on their children.
In order for bow biden to become AG, the repub AG was given a state Supreme Court seat by the dem governor, with the tacit understanding that the next in line for AG would not seek election to the post after his term expired. My S-I-L works for bow, and thinks he's a schmuck. Although a party dem, appointed by a dem AG, my S-I-L found former AG Jane Bradey very fair and professional as a boss.
Nepotism I'd like to see: Amy Carter
had actively participated in the coup. Not just 'moral support', but active participation. The radio station was acting against the law; ie. it was in violation of its charter. I don't really see tyranny in the Venezuelan government's withdrawing their broadcast license. I was actually surprised it took the government so long to do it. I look forward to the FCC's yanking GE's license to broadcast (although I'm not holding my breath). They have been misusing the public's airwaves for quite some time. And no, I'm not writing about freedom-of-speech. Jack welch has all the rights to stand on his soapbox in Lafayette Park. But GE is REQUIRED by the FCC to broadcast IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST. And misleading our country into this bogus, bullshit war was never in the public interest. It's not a free spech issue, they abused their responsibilies as users of the public's airwaves, and their privileges should be revoked.
Dan rostenkowski went to jail for....selling postage stamps. See, we really are a nation of laws, unless you're talking about torture, or eavesdropping, or spying, or extortion, or warmongering...
The little shell game in which our oh-so self interested lawmakers are involved: $$ go to Israel as 'foreign aid', $$ go from Israel to aipac, and then $$ go to compliant lawmakers. Until campaign finance laws are changed to deny private assistance, these sleazy bastards will continue to line their pockets with $$ from the U.S. public laundered through the Phillistine killers. But since laws are written by congress, this will NEVER happen. The stench of 'freedom'.
He must have been referring to the process of overcoming the resistance within the established intelligence and govt. communities.
Those are from Joe Biden's war on drugs. It's all part of the fake: fake hair, fake smile, fake teeth, fake toughness.
As is the point made by Glenn, individual responsibility for whom? Responsibility is a apparently a socio-economic criterion. If you're poor and powerless, you're responsible. If you're, for example, the Secretary of the Treasury, not so much so.
Michael milkin was sentenced to 10, and 'served' less than 2.
I don't know if the link will go through, but the title shows the sentiment among some Israelis toward the Palestinians (Philistines).
Uruguay has not been in a war since its very destructive civil war in the 1830s. Maybe, just maybe, because they were not so belabored with constantly killing and warring, universal suffrage and the banning of slavery took place there before they happened in the U.S. How long has it been since Brasil has been at war? George McGovern asks for 5 years of peace; how about a generation?
...and though highly skeptical, I'm personally willing to withhold judgment until the actual evidence is available regarding what Obama actually does.
Well. I hear that the next Commerce Secretary will be a Repub from NH, and that a 'deal' has been struck to NOT appoint a Democrat to be his replacement. When BHO DIDN't go to Georgia to campaign for the Democrat in the run-off, I knew what was up. This only confirms it: the Democrats want anything BUT a 60-seat majority, because then they will actually be held accountable. What more evidence does one need to know that it's "change you can forget about"? And to think of all the DNC e-mails I've deleted about soliciting funds to get that magic 60-member majority!
