It sounds like Obama was more concerned about his Blackberry and completely overlooked the other areas of communication in
his transition plans.
This is unbelievable. There is nothing normal about this. It reminds me of what happens in countries that are corrupt. You have the very rich... and then you have the poor.
There wasn't enough stimulus in that package. It appeared there were a lot of new, "government programs", and that can't be good.
If taxpayers realized how much garbage is included in this stimulus package, they'd be outraged. The purpose was to Create Jobs - and most of this will not create new jobs. I'd be surprised if those vaccines are even made in the U.S.
This stimulus package is deceptive. Even though I want Obama
to succeed, I have to say I'm very disappointed with this stimulus package.
The stimulus package falls short-- most of it will not put people to work. You can't blame one specific party for the current economic conditions. The financial problems can be blamed on lack of oversight by the SEC. However, most of the early job losses, which contributed to foreclosures, can be blamed on NAFTA. And, offering mortgages to people who can't possibly make the payments is due to democrats pressuring Fannie Mae years ago.
Maybe it should be standard operating procedure for IRS to
annually audit our elected officials -- instead of worrying so much about the small business owner who's probably paying more
taxes anyway. No wonder Democrats don't worry about spending...they have no intention of paying the taxes anyway.
Feel sorry for Daschle? How disgusting. This is all very hypocritical. If Daschle was a republican, Kerry and all the others would be jumping all over this.
This is exactly why we don't need more government...they're incredibly inefficient, ignorant and inept at everything they do. The bill is presented in a way that's impossible to effectively analyze, and eveyone is mutually mystified. It should be broken down by state, how many jobs would be created, and in what sector of the economy. In light of our need to conserve oil, its puzzling why there isn't more significant investment in public transportation: rail, specifically. Is this because we're still trying to protect our auto industry? Light rail, regional rail, etc. could create a tremendous amount of jobs and go a long way to
conserving oil, much quicker than through auto efficencies, too.
Government is Not the engine for the economy. What other proof do you need...TARP and the Stimulus package-- how inept, inefficient, ignorant, and very corrupt. We don't want the government spending our money and increasing our taxes. Those government officials who're spending our tax dollars--- aren't even paying their own taxes. Current government is so big they're ineffective, they've let us down. Examples: FBI/CIA/NSA; FEMA; SEC; FDA; etc., etc..
Take the garbage out of the bill: all the liberal crap, the new
programs, ACORN, etc., then it will pass. Thank you to those Democrats who had the guts to speak out against it, they're the only ones looking after the taxpayers' best interests. We cannot afford to spend a penny more than needed.
Schumer's wrong. Taxpayers Do care about the substance of the bill; it should create jobs and there should be an "expiration date" on it also.
Americans need an alternative to driving their cars everywhere:
light rail, regional rail, cross-country, high-speed rail -- that is how you reduce oil consumption. It also creates jobs and could increase tourism.
Let's face it, Pelosi and Reid are bumbling idiots, they're still not with "the program." They're still fighting their own little pet projects and this is hurting the Democrats. The Republicsns are not against the stimulus, they are for creating jobs; however, they're trying to keep this stimulus package targeted and focused on "creating jobs." We shouldn't be wasting a penny of taxpayer's money on garbage. We need people who ask the hard questions.
Why aren't we hearing about the $78 billion that we overpaid
in TARP? Why did that story disappear so quickly? Where's the
$78 billion?
Blacks are so self-absorbed about being black, that they live in their own little world. No matter how much opportunity is given them (and they've been given more opportunity than any other minority), they still can't see the forest through the trees. If they open their eyes, they'll see there's prejudice all over. Inappropriate cartoons have been made of all nationalities, religions, other races, other presidents, women, gays, etc. It doesn't make the cartoons right, but if blacks could focus on something other than being black, these stupid cartoons wouldn't seem such a big deal,
Yeah, Obama finally "got it". After a week or more of using words like "catastrophic" to describe the economy, which only made the stock market plunge further--- Obama finally took Bill Clinton's suggestion and injected "hope" and "inspiration"
into his speech tonight. That's what it was all about.
Obama Had to make that speech tonight because the stock market is plunging dangerously, and Obama's recent references to "economic catastrophe", did not help matters. Bill Clinton
found it necessary this week to remind Obama that his campaign theme was "hope" and "inspiration"...
What a waste of time and energy. Why couldn't Congress act quicker last year when there were signs the banks were losing liquidity? Why can't Congress be more proactive when it comes to eliminating pork from budget? Etc., etc.
The cartoon was insensitive; however, every minority group has
experienced the same ---its nothing new. So, when will blacks stop waking up each morning waiting to be outraged about something? This is getting old, and now they just look like whiners. And once you're labeled a whiner, no one takes you seriously anymore. Get over it.
They're right, without the details its just a sales job. And,
yes, there are plenty of people who notice. Obama makes a speech and the stock market plunges. Its getting to be an expensive pattern.
