The DNC is missing the point. Its a "given" that everyone,
Democrats and Republicans alike -- want healthcare reform.
The problem is, the Democrats have not demonstrated they
can "successfully" Reduce Costs. That is what healthcare reform is basically about -- Reducing Costs. We're not convinced Democrats know how to reduce costs significantly enough to make this successful, or even how to implement any cost reductions.
Stop wasting money on ads that only repeat the same platitudes.
In case you haven't picked up on it yet, you can't believe a word Obama says. He talks and talks in platitudes and doesn't say anything. He pulls budgetary numbers out of his ass, and then his V.P. says "we misjudged" ...B.S.! Time to wake up. All Obama cares about is that he can say he got healthcare reform. Its not the reform we're looking for, because it most likely will not reduce our premiums and it will increase our taxes. And more companies will go out of business because they still can't afford it.
You didn't know you voted for a used car salesman, did you?
Listening to Obama jam his healthcare reform bill down our throats this afternoon, I got the eerie feeling I've seen this before. Beware of anyone else who rushes you into "buying" what they're selling whether its used cars or healthcare reform. Obama's looking pretty desperate right now, and the last thing you want to do in this situation is buy what he's selling.
Businesses and individuals paying health insurance premiums cannot afford to pay more --- not even short term --- considering unemployment's at 9.5% - 15% in some areas, and many who are employed had their hours/pay cut to 4 days/wk. Obama needs to find an expert from the outside, from the private sector, who's had experience overhauling companies, cutting costs, streamlining procedures that will result in Significant savings.
Obama's lack of business and economics knowledge is clearly evident; "misjudging" the extent of the recession and how small businesses drive our economy; the GM deal; and the
lack of a viable health insurance reform plan, are a few examples. When your administration consists mostly of people with academia or government background, the only jobs you know how to create are in government! Too bad for the rest of us.
Duh. Who was accountable for overseeing the TARP money? Nobody in particular, so no one was watching. This is what happens when the government gets involved.. Its a bureaucratic mess!
My experience is that Latinos are pretty shrewd business people, with strong moral standards. More and more people are recognizing that Obama's idea of "change" is different than what they expected....
If Obama's plan is that great, why isn't it good enough for Senate Democrats? All of them, with the except of 4, said they
would not choose the public option for their own families.
Any responsible person would say NO to the current plans. The
CBO said No, and that's because it doesn't add up. Whoever's on these committees haven't done their job, or they don't know what their job is, or don't know how to do it. You have to find the cost savings first, (and "hoping" people won't get sick" is not a cost savings; "saving money through technology improvements" is very difficult to put into numbers, also).
You can't just pile more people onto a plan that is badly broken. It just compounds the problem. Figure out how to fix it first, then come back with a bill that makes sense. Americans expect more from our government than "demands" to push through a sloppy bill that doesn't add up! The rest of you better wake up fast.
No party stays the same; the republican party and the democratic party is constantly evolving. The Democrats seems to be evolving into very hateful, narrow-minded, anti-white male, anti-old, anti-business party, who believe we need the government to "help" us because we're all idiots, you know. Republicans are re-grouping, which is normal after an election, but mostly conservatives who recognize government is an inefficient, inept bureacracy; we need it for defense and infrastructure, but we don't want the government getting involved in business or in our lives.
First, everyone's mutually mystified with Obama's so-called plan, with all its contradictions. Secondly, government has a horrible track record for accountability; most people have zero confidence government is capable of reducing costs, let alone controlling costs(Medicare?) Third, Obama is making it political, which it isn't. Republicans and Democrats both agree we need reform. Fourth, rushing into something as huge as healthcare, with all the variables involved, is reckless and insane. Why not bite off a piece at a time and start fixing Medicare and Medicaid. Fifth, the unemployment numbers are deceiving. Most people who are still employed are under-employed: getting paid for 4 days instead of 5, that's a 20% pay cut...that includes small business owners...they cannot afford higher taxes to cover the uninsured even if they'd love to. Unless Obama identifies drastic cost savings (torte reform)that would be effective immediately, there's too much unknown. Another point, ourleaders in Washington need to read every word in these bills; in fact, they should be required to "sign-off" that they personally read the entire bill and will be held accountable for their vote. No excuses.,
except they should be given a reasonable to time to read 1,000 pages, 2 wks? Why not keep the bills shorter, keep it simple, stupid!
Medicare is not succesfully controlling costs. Just today,
CNN reported on Medicare paying $1200 to "rent" a wheelchair
that can be "bought" online for $283! Come on, even Obama said that Medicare costs are skyrocketing. Maybe that's the problem, people have different perceptions of what it means
to control costs ??
