Original article: Teach your children well

werrit

Makes some excellent points. The PC nonsense that you need to treat each kid equally is nonsense. Werrit said it much better than me but I was trying to touch on this with zero tolerance. Normally good kids with good grades should be given the benefit of the doubt on borderline situations instead of being treated as if they where repeat violent felons. The bad kids should be separated from the good kids and placed in reform type schools until they learn to behave or can do the work.

Werrit's most important point though is there is nothing at all wrong with tracking. Not all kids are college material and more importantly they do not need to go to college to be successful. There is nothing at wrong with trades and they should be given the skills needed for this. They need to be taught skills that will help them balance a checkbook and to communicate with the public they do not need advanced literature. These kids already know that this is a waste of time for them and the school so why continue with the charade. We have community colleges if they do decide to go to college that are better prepared to deal with them and this way these kids decided to be in college bound classes.

What is sexual harassment?

Is it was Rebecca the sexist said it was "just because one of her coworkers has made unwanted advances or inappropriate comments"? I ask because this definition is so broad to be worthless. Now if it is repeated advances after clearly being told no the first time than fine say something to HR and at least have them have it on record. If something is not done either leave because the company does not value you and or sue if you have the documentation.

Now to inappropriate comments, if the comments are sexual again tell the person to cut it out, do not engage in the discussion and tell HR if it continues. If that does not work leave because again the company does not value you than sue if you wish.

Most of the behavior can be eliminated if you just first say stop it and than don't join in. From personally observations if one goes right to HR before telling the person to stop it or go to HR after they where making similar comments or joining in the conversation they will become outcast to their coworkers, and it is the female coworkers that turn their back first.

Riiiiight

All this silliness does is amplify the point that men can become famous in Hollywood, and famous enough to be photographed by Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair, without having bodies that you want to see unclothed. There is not a similar path to success for Hollywood's women.

Ellen, Oprah, Rosanne, Whoopie, Rosie. None of them have bodies men want to see unclothed and all are bigger stars than any of the guys in that shot. Seth Rogen is the only one star power to open a film with even superbad being sold on his name and not the other fat guy. And hell it was only those 2 movies in one summer that have been big hits the rest of movies have bombed. None of them are them are famous enough that my parents would have any clue who they where. And yet my Parents know all of the women I mentioned above.
