First, it's an INDUSTRY insider, not someone inside their circle of friends
From the context of the original article and quote it appears to be someone that has at least casual contact with her like a coworker. So I stick with my point that Berman putting words in her mouth was done for no other reason than her politics.
Second, what type of person do you expect would be in this type of situation? A drug addict? A whore? A fat bitchy housewife?
This one is too easy. Outside of the feminist eco-chamber the media image of an abused women tend to be the Jerry Springer guest to the sheltered away housewives. Except for Tina Tuner 3 decades ago there are not too many stories out there of high profile women being DV victims. That does not mean they are not or can not but that is not the experience we have as a society as a whole.
The mere fact that you think it's reasonable to think there is a "type" of woman who would be in this situation shows your ignorance and bias.
If you want to criticize me fine, but at least read what I wrote. I did not say there is a "type" of women, what I said was it is reasonable for someone to think there is a type of person and as I explained above it is a reasonable assumption based on the media exposure of this issue.
Plenty of intelligent, educated, mature, professional women are beaten by their supposedly loving partners. Rihanna has her own career and her own money, yet she's in a relationship with a man capable of brutalizing her.
Well no shit thanks for the news flash. Here is some news for you too, the last high profile female celebrity to be a victim of DV that we know of is Tina Tuner over 3 decades ago.
And then you go on to say Ms. Berman is wrong to say some "pal" said it was up to youthful indiscretion or raging hormones by pointing out it might be because he thinks she cheated on him.
Never said such a thing, here is what I said.
"The pal did no such thing. The pal seemed to be asked what lead to this and s/he gave the reason that this happened. IE from the story you pulled this quote from, that Chris Brown thought Rihanna might be cheating on him. We don't know what the pal thought about the alleged abuse because the article does not tell us."
I know you can't see the difference but here it is anyways. Judy said that the Pal was excusing the behavior when their is no evidence at all that the Pal was doing that. What the article shows is that the pal was probably asked what lead to this and the pal responded that they are both jealous. That question in no way can tell us what the Pal thought of the actions of Chris Brown.
Honesly, Jim, you actually think there is any occasion, any behavior on her part short of violence which requires self defense that justifies his brutality?
I never fucking said that and I want an apology for you dishonesty and character assignation. I don't think it is ok for anyone to hit another person unless they are in a fucking sporting competition or they are defending themselves. Not cool for a man to hit his wife/gf, not cool for a wife/gf to slap her husband, and that at the first sign of abusive behavior a person should leave right then and there. But, that is not what I am complaining about, I am complaining about the bullshit way broadsheet does its alleged job.
