Nothing to fear if you are innocent

That quote is telling because right off the bat they know they are taking rights away. The only other pharse that scares me as much is "for the children". Taking away all the potential issues for abuse such as insurance issue and framing it is still a bad idea because DNA is not the end all be all 99 percent sure method depicted in the media. Don't misunderstand DNA is great at ruling out suspects but it is not good at saying that it is a match.

Here is why taken from a real life case that was overturned in the last couple of weeks. The DA tried to claim that his DNA matched 1 in 1.3 million on a database of around 350 thousand. But in reality with those data points the chance of the database providing a false positive is 1 in 3.

Why is apple worshipped again?

I can go into any Best Buy or Wal mart in this nation and see movies at price points of 5.00, 7.50, 13.99, 22.99, 35.99 and price points in between. But, Apple to this point thinks I might get confused that the new Lil Wayne single is not .99 the same as Hammer song from 92.

If this passes it is a slippery slop

Make no mistake if this passes it is the start of a slippery slop. Right now the data base will be restricted to those just accused of violent crime, but in a year or two some DA or State congress person will demand that anyone arrested for a felony needs to give up there DNA. Of course the police with there "new professionalism" would never make a false arrest to get DNA. Than the next step will be any one arrested at all. Laws will be passed that changes the legal standard of the test to assume a match equals guilt. One only has to look at the history of DUI laws where at this point a machine with no scientific basis is treated as the holy grail of guilt. It is contempt of court in many area's for an attorney to point out the flaws in the machine.

Sunspot and others

If NBC tries to sell a show for 3.99 instead of the 1.99 CBS charges and you don't think it is a fair price there is a very simple solution. Don't buy it. If you don't buy it NBC will not see income from this stream and pretty soon they will lower the price.

On price creep so what. Again if you don't like the price of the product don't buy it. NBC has been known to give away the product for free about once a week for 22 weeks a year on there programs. If the price rises that is a good thing as it will show another revenue stream for these shows and more money will be available. Shows that might not get high OTA ratings might not be profitable.

I don't see who this situation at all is similar to either AOL spam case or of fraud. AOL along with every other email provider had language in the TOS about spam but they also took efforts to enforce these rules and it could be shown that the loss of bandwidth and server space etc caused harm. Myspace at least until the last 6 months has not made an effort to stomp out fake accounts (I have not checked my page in 6 months or so but at that time I still had at least 6 Steven Seagal's as friends along with Robocop and several other obviously fake accounts). With Myspace not enforcing there own rule it will be argued and most likely successfully that this part of the TOS was defacto void. This case also has no elements of fraud as most fraud statues are or can be written. The fake account did not ask (as far as I understand of the case) for any form of money or service and the idea that emotions can be defrauded is a scary proposition that will give the government a way to charge anyone and everyone they choose.

This is the kind of case that scares me as I know that there will be "internet bulling" laws passed which on the face of it are stupid but more important they put a chill to free speech. Just the idea that someone can be accused of a crime for words that are typed or spoke over a medium that can be turned off should have people that care about the 1st amendment have goosebumps. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
