Oh how i have dreamed of the male pill

The day an effective male pill hits the market will be the day there really is equality. No more "missed pills", no more accidental leaks in the diaphragm, no more mysterious holes in condoms. No longer will I have to take a used condom with me to insure its proper disposal. No more worries that the condom might break or tear and the sweating out if she is really on the pill or if she will have an abortion. No more surprises coming from child services asking for back child support on a child you never knew existed and a default ruling because of a wrong address.

The male pill will go a long way to ending valid criticisms about the inequality of a women having all the say on keeping a fetus. No longer will men be looking down the barrel of a gun of dishonest women that lie about being on the pill or their fertility. There will actually be some honesty about it takes two to make a baby.

I can't believe the stupidity of the pharmaceutical companies on thinking their is not a market. I would imagine the number of users would be almost mirror image of females that use the pill if not even greater. Especially since it is males that almost always lose out on "unplanned" or tricked pregnancies.

Broadsheets obsession with Viagra.

As i already said above I look forward to a male pill like Bret Farve looks forward to his next retirement soap opera. But, why was it necessary to even bring up Viagra? Especially when what you bring up is just wrong. Viagra was not designed from the unset to be a treatment for erectile dysfunction but for angina. During its clinical trials for angina it was found not to be all that effective for angina but it was found to have a benefit for those with ED so they changed the rest of the trails to treat for that. This is not all that uncommon, many drugs during their early trials do not work for what they original where tested for but suggest they might work for a different condition.

Original article: Why are gymnasts so young?

sethgoldman is right

Almost every sport has its prime age where only the occasional exception will be competitive outside that age. In men's tennis it is around 25 or 26 when the elite player falls off the cliff. In the NFL, QBs are usually done by 37, RB are done at 30. In baseball the peak is about 26 or 27 and large declines hit around 32, 33. The sprint sports anyone over about 27 will see their times fall. Hell even golf sees this pattern where in the late 30s the scores start to climb.

The best and really the only way to keep nations from producing fake passports is to change the rules of the sport to move up the prime window. This of course will do little to stop these girls from training regiments or prevent eating disorders as all sports require to some degree a sacrifice of the body at a young age to be a champion. Lebron James or Jordon or any other elite athlete spent hours upon hours training in HS to be the players that they where, and sacrificed their bodies in pursuit of their goals. And as long as their is a sport where a low center of gravity of extreme lightness are keys to success their will be those that miss meals and get into sweat boxes.

Thanks Jennifer for a great look at an elite athelets mindset

This is one of the most honest pieces I have read about an athletes mindset and thank you for that. Far too often articles like this are filled with boring athlete speak that only the semi retarded sports talk listeners and hosts, seemingly half the sports press, the extreme homer fan and the very casual sports fan believe.

The honesty about how hard the training really is, is also refreshing. There is almost never a mention about how half of the elite athletes training revolves around just walking to the bathroom to pop a dozen pain killers. No one wants to talk about how the athletes we love to watch wake up five years after they step out of the spotlight with bone on bone knees, severe back pain, can't play with their kids, etc. Hell they have it easy they get paid millions to play a game so why are the complaining is too often our response. That or we make fun of a jammed finger or turf toe since they are such pussy sounding injuries.
