I wonder the same thing must have to do with the patriarchy or something. To the american feminist it is evil to ever say anything bad about fat people or there life styles and you must assume that each and every fat person has some medical condition that causes the weight gain because they all eat nothing but a well rounded meal planed for them by the top dietitians in the world and excersise more than TO in a parking lot. But, women that are skinny must be banned from working a career that they choose and are a much higher drain on society and cause more women to die than cancer, heart disease, and diabetes combined.

NYAmiga

Do you realize that in the 300-plus years of the transatlantic slave trade a total of about 10 million Africans were brought to the Americas as slaves? Of these, only half a million to the United States.

Damn I did not know that there was only a half million slaves in America, I guess Slavery was not that bad. Oh wait someone is being dishonest here and that would be NYAmiga. The 1860 census showed 10 million slaves in the United States. That number looks to be 20 times the number you gave. Why would this be? Could it be because someone has an agenda and thought they could slip this nonsense that black slavery was not the most horrible action the United States ever allowed? Trying to use a lower number to intentional confuse the larger picture. And before you bring up what happened to the native tribes they where not counted as part of are citizenry then beat for not picking fast enough, torn from their families at auction, and killed for looking beyond the fence.

Yet, according to the United Nations and Amnesty International, at present FOUR MILLION women and girls are trafficked annually worldwide for sexual slavery purposes.

State Department has the number closer to a half million to three quarters of a million a year. Oh just so you don't come back saying they are trying to hide the numbers they have aggressively gone after human trafficking as it plays well with the religious right. The first head of Human Trafficking Prevention resigned over the numbers being inflated and how they are inflated. The UN has there own number but they also publish the numbers from about a dozen other sources that show a wide range from under a half million to the 4 million you and they cite. Unlike you the UN seems to have some questions about their own numbers. Most of the law enforcement officials that have given interviews suggest the numbers are all just guess work as it seems no one has a good idea on methodology. But, one thing seems certain reading on the issue and that is the high end numbers are probably vastly over estimating the numbers. One of the estimates used a survey on prostitution that showed 90 percent of women wanted out of the field but ignored that 75 percent of this group did not leave because of job training. In eastern Europe, according to the frontline episode on the issue http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/slaves/ over 90 percent of the sex workers that cross borders do it with the knowledge they will be sex workers in there new destination. Yet the high end numbers count all of them as sex slaves.

No country ever went to war to emancipate womankind. Yet, women were in the forefront of the anti-slavery movement.

What country should we attack? What country has an open market of female sex slaves? And what the hell does this have to with the alleged sexism faced by upper middle class white women?

I agree competently with you that most users of drugs are hardly noticeable and live normal lives the reason I and I am sure others mention the drug angle is the way his bio info was presented and the quote he made at least strongly implies he was a down and out drug abusing "welfare king". The reality of the situation especially someone in his probable economic status is closer to your description but since he had to move to Queens for a few years with his background it is the equivalent of living in at Robert Taylor or Cabrini Greens.

That being said, the basic point is people do not "instantly" look down and judge a single dad, the same is not true with a single mom.

All i can say is blame NOW for this one. They are one of the biggest special interest groups that have pushed this meme that females are better parents then men. So when a man is a single custodial parent it is assumed that he most either be such a great parent that there was no choice but to give custody, he wanted the kids so bad he would actually fight for them and actually convince a judge to give him custody or the mother is such an evil bitch to the child that the courts had to take the child away for their own good.

Credit when credit is due

Thank you Sarah Hepola for making mention of this program especially after the half dozen or so articles printed in broadsheet about how much worse sexism to elite white women compared to racism stories that have appeared here.
