Original article: How Hillary could tank

Neocons and Clinton

I used to think that the reason the "mainstream " (i.e. rightwing) media was forcing Clinton down our throats was that she would be a candidate the Republicans could beat. Now I think that they actually would love her to be president as she is owned by and obligated to Pharmco, the military industrial complex, oil companies and not to any ordinary Americans. Her presidency will look like another Bush presidency. I hang out with people of all political stripes and have yet to meet a Hillary supporter. I

Do you really think that on an anonymous site anyone cares that you had thiry years in Berkeley and one in Bejing? And you are critiquing a writer while giving this info? MYOHMY. I love The Ofice. This year they are struggling a bit but it is so vapid and entertaining and the characters are still unique. My thirteen year old, my 20 year old, my dad(86) and I love it. That says alot.

FISA

Where does John Edwards stand on this bill and why does the media continue to ignore him? Clinton is Bush in a pantsuit. She is despicable and I know noone who would vote for her.

Original article: Battle of the Bushes

Pablum

This book is ridiculous. What about Brown and Root and Bush Senior? Haliburton? The Saudi's who have had an incestuous relationship with him for thirty five years? The Bin Ladens and Bush? James Baker, his best friend is now the Secretaty of Defense. He is the master of this disaster and to talk about a slight initiated by Junior is a joke. His father was a war profiteer for the Nazis. Why is Salon publishing this bullshit?

Getting Lost

I kept my name which was very common at the time(1980). I felt a strong affinty for my family, my name and and my heritage. But most importantly we(my hubby and I) have lived in several different states and countries and never returned home to live. I wanted my friends to be able to find me wherever I was and keeping my name has made this happen time and again.

The kid issue was a bit of a dilema. We had two boys ,I got to pick the first name, gave them my m last name as a middle and my husband's as a last.Eight years later we decided to have another. s he got the same. Due to my last name being diferent (kids rarely if ever use their middle name) many people assume I am Erinn's stepmother...In fact my son recently home from college discovered that two of his best friends thought for fifteen years that my husband was his stepfather. These are kids we had alnmost living at our house. So its a tossup if I had to do it over again. I have noticed that the two older boys have started using their middle (my last) name now that they are away from home. I do think if your bethrothed insists upon you taking his name and it is as issue for you find another guy. That is a red flag to me re: control issues. Itshouldn't be a make or break deal.

Original article: Is race dying?

Gut Check

So, say you have a fourteen year old daughter who is checking out the field. She has the benefit of smarts, looks and an intact supportive family. She chooses the black, from a loving and supportivefamily who also plays basketball. As a parent what is the question to be asked? Quite different than forty years ago. Is he from a happy healthy and supportive family? i think we have gone beyond race. It has sort of become a cultural/economic issue. Watching the San Quentin expose on MSNBC tonight it was clear that these poor fuks had no family, familyl resources or family love to spare them. They were screwed as kids, That is what we shoul try to address. There has to be an answer. It can't be rocket science.

It looks like SI has their money on the Raiders this week against the Packers. Farvre, courtesy of the JINX will throw three interceptions this week and no touchdowns.

Tears

Remember when, after being accused of being humorless, Clinton cackled after her weak attempt at self deprecation? She is so contrived that I find it astounding that anyone believes a thing about her. Now about her voting record in the Senate.....I find it astounding also that Salon readers continue to support her.

Original article: No bears for oil

Alaska

The governor of Alaska, Sara Palin, who is a Republican who is actually on the right side of most issues(has taken on the oil companies and is winning) recently has said that she does not support placing polar bears on the endangered species list. She is a reasonable and principled person and is not owned by the oil companies as were her many predecessors along with our corrupt Republican legislature. Point being, contact her and her administration. I think she has the power or clout to affect this issue. She tends to pay attention and listen.

Original article: There's no taking sides

Joe Conason By Joe Conason

Joe, Get out of the Beltway Crowd. Your entire article was a defensive article about you. Maybe you should jump to the deadly boring folks at NPR who lost their touch twenty years ago when they all joined the country clubs in D.C. I used to love your commentary and then you lost your edge. Sheila, Eagle River, Alaska
