what, pray tell, is an extreme secularist? Hugh Hefner? How many rethuglikan heroes are still married to their first wives? Raygun? Nope. Newt the Patoot? Uh, no. McLame? Serial adulterer. God is not a white male protestant republikan. He's not American. Sorry. Heaven isn't red white and blue, even on July 4.

you can tell when a republikan is lying; his lips are moving. The Chinese aren't taking our oil, but they have our money. We give it to them. They hold the IOU's to our children's future. Screw Dick and his minions.

pluralistic, yes. state imposed "christianity", no. I'm a Catholic. I take Scripture seriously. This country, in biblical terms, far more resembles Rome than it does Israel. It's republikan policies, largely, with spineless democrats acting as doormats, that got us here. There's nothing Christian about the way this country bullies and consumes its way through history. No more profligate, self-centered, Mammon driven land has existed. The principles on which this country was founded are worthy of respect, but not reverence. That's God's alone. And the Falwell/Robertson/franklin Graham/Jimmy Swaggart brand of "conservatism" is apostasy. Thus, my heading "Pharisees". I believe biblical models are present in every age. We're about to be Rome, and we'd better wise up and get over our self-righteous notion that this is our world and the rest of the countries just get to live in it, unless we decide to kill them. What would Jesus do, indeed.

false dichotomy, typical of rethugs. this problem is over 30 years old. Jerry brown and Jimmy Carter tried to address it, but you folks laughed them off the stage. Murkans have a right to cars. Any sane person knows it's going to take a combination of things- conventional energy sources judiciously used, and an aggressive push to develop alternative technologies that would parallel JFK's challenge to get to the moon in a decade. We can do it. A little nu-kew-lur? Sure. Coal gassification? Some. Ethanol? snake oil that's biting us in the food prices. won't fly. Offshore drilling is the tech equivalent of breeding dray horses around 1910. we'll need some, but not for long. It's a false choice made by false people, entirely out of greed. Tax the crap out of the oil companies, leave gas prices where they are but redirect the profits to technological development instead of Saudi and republikan pockets. there is a horizon, but it's not an event. It's vision, which Top Gun McLame utterly lacks. jeff

Are you serious? IF so, thanks, but, if I'm brilliant that's only further evidence of the dumbing down of America. It's so hard to read irony into web posts. All the nuance is gone, and I refuse to stoop to emoticons or any of that techie shorthand. Have a great Independence day. Maybe we'll get our independence back, but only if we want it enough to take it. It's time. jeff

left to you folk is anyone more tolerant than Jessie Helms, may he rot in hell. And America is the de facto Roman Empire of today, but not for long. Learn to read scripture in Chinese. They'll own most of Murka in twenty years. They're well on their way, on the road to Mammon paved by the worshipers of the golden calf: republikans. God, Guts, and Guns, and Greed, and Grubbing for power. Jesus would have thrown every last one of them out of the temple. Enjoy "Independence" Day, and cherish the two or three of the ten amendments of the Bill of Rights we still have.

to get a ticket to the fascist fest, you have to gulp a vial of Georgie's urine and bundle 100 contributions for 527 lie machines. Piss off.

the fascsts don't believe in evolution, except when it comes to economic natural selection. Then, it's God's will manifest, that you be poor and scrabbling while they're overpaid and overfed. Piggy Gramm is just saying what the rest of them believe. This lays bare the whole reactionary revulsion with the poor and their "entitlement" programs. They love money above all, and are nothing more than present day Pharisees dancing around the golden calf.

the crackers and fascists that make up today's GOP toadies still opposed the 13th amendment. no surprise they'd be shocked- shocked, I tell you- to have them darkies actually come out in large numbers and vote. Payback's a'comin', and it's a bitch, you racist trolls.

Phil the Shill has been tagging along with Johnny McSame to all these "spontenous" "town hall" "meetings", orchestrated by the campaign to show how in touch Grampa Munster really is, he of the Botox Bimbo Billionaire Baby second wife (he traded in the first one while he was still married to her) and her 250K credit card tab. Kiss my middle class veteran ass. McSame tried to snark off the Gramm remark- which Phil has subsequently defended, to the word- by some lame ass quip about ambassador to Belarus. You're gonna lose, John. Invest in champagne futures- domestic champagne- 'cause us average folk gonna have us a party we done been waitin' eight years to have. Bye, fascisti. rot in hell.

it's a volunteer army, bucko. We didn't have the luxury during Vietnam. If the country is so offputting, bail at your next opportunity, unless you just like killing moslems. and assholes don't have points, they have sphincters. semper fi. or, whimper fi for all those wimpy weenies with their twelve paks of Butt Lite and their channel changers set to Fuxxsnooze.
