whoring

the coarsening of language, and the culture in general, has long passed the tipping point. any word can be verb now, doncha know? I agree that accusing a particular person, woman or man, of being a whore is inappropriate unless they are, in fact, selling sex for money. Or favors. Or power- all different manifestations of the same currency. But whoring is another matter. It's long been common to use the term as a word for the ultimate sell out. Whoring is the process whereby something intimate, personal, and precious is cheapened in the deepest way. The Bush administration has been whoring for the war, the degradation of the Bill of Rights and the rest of the Constitution, whoring our environment. I doubt any of those neocon bastards could actually sell sex for money. Who'd buy? It's not credible. So, I draw a distinction between a direct personal accusation, and a characterization of a behavior so depraved that no other word really suffices.

forgiveness

the committee must consider the circumstances at the time the non-primaries took place. How they can validate and include without alteration the results of a process so deeply flawed and terminally unfair (and not just to Obama) is beyond me. I've heard the meme that those nasty Flordia rethugs jury rigged the primary to monkey wrench the Democratic selection process. Hogwash. The democrats in the state, minority though they unquestionably are, did not raise a stink. Almost all of them voted to go along. None of the candidates made a cause out of the misappropriation of the process of either state in question. Indeed, they agreed, essentially, to consider any result null and void. It is nakedly obvious that the Clinton campaign, down to its last gasp, will do anything they can to ram this fiasco down our collective throats, as if the states were in full compliance. "disenfranchisement" scream the clintoistas, full of wounded virtue. It's not convincing. It's conniving. Some middle ground must be reached, one that is not built on some theoretical framework of what might have happened if a real primary, with several candidates, had taken place. The results cannot bear scrutiny, and the states cannot be allowed to flagrantly ignore the rules with no consequence. If the people of Florida were so concerned with fairness, after what they helped visit on this nation in 2000, then why do they persist in having republikans in strong majorities? the outrage here seems to be highly selective, and of questionable authenticity. It smells like a power grab.

sex workers?

what's that, a blow job with a hard hat? if bestiality is involved, is that a sex farm worker (apologies to Spinal Tap)? Every human deserves dignity, but the whole sex worker meme is politically correct silliness of the first rank. Hookers, whores, ladies of the evening, escort services, or whatever euphemism you care to attach. I you hump for a living, don't ask for special titles. You just sold it. It's political whoring we're concerned about here.

speak for yourself, fauntleroy

So, no one has integrity? No one is altruistic? Every motive is mercenary, every decision is conniving and self interested? What an utterly sad view of a world that's sad enough without any help. does everyone compromise? Duh. Does that make them prostitutes? Hell no. I could not disagree more. It's that kind of "they're all corrupt, they're all alike" that has gotten us the political system that serves us so very well. That post was more depressing by far than the excretions of shawn and yoplait and the usual tools.

Yep

If a candidate achieves the undeniable majority of delegates, they are the nominee. If it's billary, there's gonna be some fancy 'splainin' to do, but I'd accept it, and vote for her. I'd also play for the major league minimum if some team needs a 61 year old left hander. A hypothetical bordering on the preposterous, but there's my answer. jeff

fantasy island

billary and the bitchy bunch have been on Fantasy Island for months now. Hate Bait Kate's gonna show us. She's gonna vote with Trent Lott, Jesse Helms, Rev. Hagee. But she's not a racist or a sexist. she's a child, a pouty petulant snit fit throwing three year old. Let the pity party continue. Boo. Hoo.

naked delegations

It's my understanding that a state's delegation is apportioned according to the rules, or not apportioned if the rules are ignored, and that a super delegate would not be treated differently than any other delegate. If you wanted nice clean rules you could have voted republikan. Winner takes all. Win by one, get every freakin' delegate in the state. That's real democratic. Ours is confusing, and in need of drastic repair, but at least it attempts to reflect voter intent. Nothing like a well hung chad.

rent a riot, upscale thugs

just as Tom Delay and the reich wingers flew upscale fascist staffers to "spontaneously" rally in Miami-Dade in 2000, so also are the HIllbots, rich enough to fly on a whim for the weekend in DeeCee, going have a photo op tantrum outside the hotel tomorrow. It would surprise me not at all to have rethug infiltrators pump up the numbers and agitate the crowd. Its absolutely true that someone(s) need to film all of this horseshit.

pimpin' la chica loca

the PR vote will mean less than the West Virginnie vote, if that's possible. Surprising that Puerto Ricans are so easily duped by rich white ultra privileged puffballs. Maybe it's the "rico" part. Adios, Gorda.

inside the committee

It was entertaining to see Wexler hand Harold Ickes his flabby clintonian ass on a platter. Wexler is very impressive. Ickes is a worm.

designer rent a riots

billary's bitchaton is bought and paid for by rich bored bitter white women. their tantrums will have no effect. the committee, though having contentious moments, is actually sounding like a rational deliberative body. the patent selfishness of billary's "me, me, me" position is nakedly obvious. they want all the votes, all the delegates, and a pony for their birthday. Screw 'em. god knows nobody else will.
