"-- People claim that Cole, or anybody who criticizes Israeli policies, is "anti-Semitic."
To me this is just pathetic. Calling people "anti-Semitic" because they have a problem with Israel's politics is like something a whiny child would do. How do you know you aren't using the negative label "anti-Semitic" as a tool to keep people from criticizing Israel? If somebody has a problem with Israeli's politics, what manner of expression qualifies as non-anti-Semitic? Or is all discussion of Israel off limits?"
Again, there is an attempt to obfuscate the problem. No one is calling anyone anti-Semitic because they are criticizing Israel. This is anti-Semitism because it involves applying a different set of standards to the Jewish state than to all other countries of the world.
I doubt that anyone would claim that this is the first time there has been a dispute between two groups of people over one piece of land. There must be hundreds of such situations in recent history, right?
Okay, so tell us about three similar situations (or even one, if you can find one) in which both groups were offered an internationally mediated settlement which would have divided the land equally (the UN partition plan of 1948), and the side that rejected the settlement was considered by everyone as "oppressed".
Show us a similar situtation in which a country has fought 5 successive wars of self-defense and was accused as an "occupier" of contiguous land it acquired for self defense?
Don't you get it? You are swallowing all the anti-Semitic drivel currently camoflaged as "listening to both sides."
Were there two sides deserving of moral consideration when the Catholic Church tortured and murdered millions of Jews? Were there two sides when Germans and Europeans murdered millions of Jews in the 1930's and 1940's? Were there two sides when the Arab nations of the world murdered an expelled millions of Jews in the years since 1948 (didn't even know about that, did you)?
I cannot think of a single instance in all of modern history in which the murder of Jews was ever condemned at the time. Can you think of one?
Suddenly, we're supposed to believe that the Arabs (and Palestinians who are only a small subset) who are vitriolically anti-Semitic (by their own admission) are only out for justice. How naive can you possibly be?
You need to make some sort of principled argument in order to get me to believe that this is not anti-Semitism. Identify a moral principle about handling disputed territory, show how it is universally applied to every other country, and then show how the Israelis are not adhering to it. I am completely confident that you can't, because there isn't one.
It is nothing more than repeating vitriolic anti-Semitism to claim that Israelis use Palestinian children as target practice. There is absolutely no evidence that this has ever happened. Don't you see what you are doing? In the guise of even handedness, in only one relatively short post, you have managed to spread vicious hatred of Jews without ever once questioning whether it was true. You should be ashamed.
