  • But Tim...

[Read the article: Rumsfeld: Al-Qaida may be behind media reports on Iraq]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In contrast to the sunny assessment of Iraq Rumsfeld offered today, Zalmay Khalilzad -- he works for the president, not for the press -- tells the Los Angeles Times that Iraq is "really vulnerable" to civil war if there is another attack like last month's bombing of the Askiriya shrine in Samarra.

Didn't you know that Al-Qaida arranged for the Times to publish this, and if they didn't, it would never have been published? It's all part of the same pattern...

    Idiocy, thy name is Rumsfeld...

  • Wha?

[Read the article: The things he said today]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"Iraq is a part of the global war on terror. In other words, it's a global war. "

Did I hear this right? Did he just declare war on the ENTIRE WORLD?!?!?

I've thought Cowherd as unlistenable since his days in Portland OR, but this seals it...what an O'Reilly-esque reaction. I second the motion - What an Ass!

...the movie "Dave". When does Bush have his "episode"?

  • A Perfect Example

[Read the article: The GOP enacts its drama to perfection]

...of single-party control of all three branches of government. The Democrats can't really do anything about it because they don't have the ability to get any substanative legislation out of committee because it would just be rejected along party lines. The best strategy right now would be akin to Muhammad Ali's "rope-a-dope" strategy against George Foreman in 1973 - delay implementation of these laws and rely on regaining control of at least one chamber of Congress in November.

Not a great strategy, but it's really all they've got...

  • The Key Word...

[Read the article: Traditional values? Hastert flip-flops on Foley, again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...is "caught." The fact the Foley evaded discipline for so many years speaks to the ability of the GOP leadership to keep such things suppressed. The consequences speak more to the basic hypocrisy of orthodox GOP thought than the implication that "Democrats get away with it," as Sheldon implies.

"But if you want to try to get a nuance to full understanding of where Bob Gates stands on these issues with regard to the president and his policies and the definition of what it is to win in Iraq and what it takes, then I think you're going to find that there is -- that he agrees and also that he is committed to the mission." - Tony Snow, Dec 5, 2006.

"Joe, I don't do nuance." --George W. Bush to Sen. Joseph Biden, as quoted in Time, Feb. 15, 2004.

  • Can't Wait for His Next Screw-up

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Yeah, I remember him from Portland, too...couldn't stand him then, can't stand him now. I'm glad to see his idiocy is being noticed by people who see through his act. Hopefully, ESPN Radio will be able to regain three hours of programming for someone more mature.

As for ESPN's response, it reminds me of an old Robin Williams joke about London Bobbies not carrying guns: "Stop! Or I'll say stop again!"

  • Dear Tony:

White House spokesman Tony Snow responded with strong language.

"Now we have a situation where there is an attempt to do something that's never been done in American history, which is to assail the concept of executive privilege, which hails back to the administration of George Washington and in particular to use criminal contempt charges against the White House chief of staff and the White House legal counsel," he said.

Tony, were you completely asleep during the Watergate years?

  • A Different Way...

[Read the article: I'm a doubting teenager]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    ...to say the same thing:

Musicians are often asked how they developed their unique style. Usually, the answer is that "I played the music that was important to me, and over time the different styles of my favorite musicians blended into my own style." When people ask me how I play bass, I tell them that my right hand is Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), my left hand is Geddy Lee (Rush), with the cool calculation of John Entwhistle (The Who) and Chris Squire (Yes), and the abandon of Billy Sheehan. Mix it all together and it ends up sounding pretty cool.

So, you take a structure, apply your own experiences and feelings, and you make something unique...defnitely a process in growing up.

Good luck, and you're definitely not alone.
