The women encourage this, because they DO continue to pick the alpha men, generation after generation.
Please show me a woman doing that. Please show me a woman here at Broadsheet, where these discussions take place, that does that.
If occasionally, some women pick non alpha males, this does not diminish the fact that women generally pick the men deemed most successful.
'Most successful' means one or more of several things. Since I am not female nor a god, I cannot deduce precisely what it is, but generally it seems women select POWERFUL, RICH, CHARMING and or PHYSICALLY ATTRACTIVE. All things that, admittedly, make men more powerful in comparison to other men ALSO, but things nonetheless that are undeniably ALPHA traits.
Women are generally NOT batting at each other for a shot with the Sanitation Engineers of the world, unless a specific engineer HAPPENS to be charming and attractive or VERY WEALTHY or powerful in the first place.
You may say men are into power and money for power and money sake, but ultimately, power and money LEAD to ACCESS to the best women. And while a few men may seek power and money for its own sake, it is de facto bred into our genes that we males are designed to BREED and to continue our blood line in the most successful, socially acceptable way possible. So it is preposterous for you to suggest that the seeking of power and money is NOT ultimately about access to breeding, even if the men do not consider it such or think about it. In the end, it is not the yachts, or the mansions, it is the EYE CANDY on the guy's arm. To this day, for instance, I am still blown away by how unreasonably beautiful Salman Rushdie's former wife was. Do I care that Bill Gates has a $46 million house? I couldn't really give a shit. MOST GUYS would agree with me and my positon.
AND it is this disconnect from reality that bugs me about you, this being just one example. It is as if you landed here from Jupiter and are trying to discover and internalize human feelings.
Frankly, much as I love what MMM writes and do respect some of what you write, between the two of you, I can only scan some of the arguments. I prefer to see the high points that might be most emblematic of an argument rather than digging into the minutiae of every issue and sub-issue. It is why I do not argue back as much with you, I decided the drawn out dissertations and citing of multiple influences in each argument takes too much time.
So, I try to choose specific single examples, since I hate to see a guy like MMM being trounced for what, in my mind, are perfectly logical and sane observations.
"women will have more power when they choose to say it is theirs. We are the majority. (and we control reproduction)"
Glad to see a feminist finally admitting the obvious and what I and others have been saying for a long time, that women have considerable power and influence in the world that is there for their use, if they choose it.
Kind of puts to the lie the feminist idea that men have power and women do not, but I long ago gave up on the idea that there was anything honest about feminism.
when Asehpe asks for someone to prove that feminists are this way or that, and to point to a specific feminist as proof that feminists do something.
The same can be used in reverse. Often men are accused of something by women, yet when asked to provide specific examples, women are unable to.
Of course PEOPLE, men or women, may still have belief systems that predispose them to behaving or coloring their decisions a certain way and yet still, nobody could point to specific examples of concrete behavior that would prove out the position.
Also, to continually deny that feminism is ANYTHING but positive and docile is laughable. Feminism is built upon many things, history, sociology, perceptions, prejudices. Naturally, victorianism, for one example, would be a crutch by which feminism, or any movement, might take advantage of past history to continue or push a certain position. But to deny that feminism is responsible for this is sad.
No movement is untouchable. All movements are subject to the judgments others put on them, feminism being no different.
Besides, were you or anyone to successfully con someone into thinking feminism is all sweetness and light, they would persist in their suspicions quietly anyway. There is too much ongoing trouble being caused by feminism that reignites questions about whether it should even exist anymore.
I suspect any GUY, for that matter, who defends feminism so vehemently. IT is one thing to say equal rights yah yah yah. It is quite another, and quite disturbing, thing to find men who are so dunned that all their own arguments are constantly steered in favor of feminism.
One does not even know where to begin to parse out such komplete and komprehensive kool aid drinking.
Over the past 75 years or something, when Democrats lead, the stock market growth is on average double than when the Republicans lead, yet this seeming truth seems to be hidden or deliberately not touted. IS there something I am missing?
Also, given Bush is out soon, can someone point out organizations dedicated to making sure justice is waged against the Bush cabal once he is out? I mean a real organization, not one of these fakey fake ones that just take in money and do nothing.
