where is MY bailout?!?

I constructed a house in 2004 and placed it on the market over 18 months ago.

It started at $849k. Now it is priced at $649k and I am considering lowering it to $599k now.

This is in the supposedly SECOND most successful real estate market in the US-- Austin.

I finally understand the scam. THEY claim that last year the average sales price for a property rose 7% in Austin.

Well, if a $500k property is lowered to $400k by the owner and someone else who would have bought a $350k property decides to instead buy the $400k property, then the average sale has increased from $350k to $400k, hasn't it? But on the back of the guy who brought his price down 20%.

The 3rd ranked real estate agent in Austin told me last week that a $1.5m lake property last week sold for $1mil.

I have lost my rudimentary nest egg and now ALSO owe some money to family too because the banks handed out loans like water and then pulled in the goodies. Now, nobody can afford jumbo loan houses because people had come to depend on the loans and the market has dried up for these jumbo loan houses.

I am broke and my costs exceed my income by $1500 per month.

There are no more solutions left. I am needing to give the house back to the bank because I cannot refinance, sell, or do anything with the house. An ongoing job search has not yielded anything more in pay than I currently earn.

Were the banks not so irresponsible to just hand out money nilly willy then back off when the INEVITABLE came, I would have been able to work through this and keep the house.

SO, I ask, where is MY damn bailout???

I am far from the only one in this pickle, indeed most people can claim some level of pain today. But my example is indicative of the level of desperation out there among many.
