A feminist is a man or woman who supports equal rights before the law for women and men, and acknowledges that we live in a world where (overall) women are at a disadvantage in this regard.
You could've fooled me. All I've seen feminism do since the 1980s is slap men around irresponsibly, to the point that young women are ashamed to label themselves as such.
And just precisely which rights are women still missing? Maybe the right to THINK? (you women ought to try that sometime)
And who said women are at a disadvantage anyway? Because YOU opportunistic man haters said so? Frankly, breasts get you further in job interviews than about anything else so I have no clue what you mean.
What is the finish line? When does feminism finally shut its yapper and admit women already have ALL the rights men have and then some [LOTS really] rights even MEN do not have?
my problem with the divorce fashion in America is that women marry badly DELIBERATELY-- they marry world class jerks, because the jerks made their clits twirl or something-- and then the world has to ABSORB the aftereffects of these bad decisions the women quite consciously made.
I have little to no sympathy for loose women with deliberately bad judgement.
The world needs fewer little bastard kids and more good people. unfortunately it looks like women are hell bent on producing more hell spawn rather than being responsible.
Actually I read the USA Today article on her today.
She is really a centrist when it comes to issues and how she has dealt with them so far.
I continue to be surprised at how this selection is turning out. Waiting for the other shoe to drop really.
As far as love of country, maybe a more accurate way to put it is to say love of the IDEALS that made this country. You cannot blame people for wanting to preserve those ideals even if they have to break free of the cancerous beast in the meantime.
but women on the right don't necessarily have a good attitude towards men either, they just are relying on some idea they have of a proper form of traditional authority to keep men in line rather than on a political system constructed, run and maintained by feminists.
too true. But I guess the difference is that the traditional approach still includes men in it and the men have a place as nominal leaders. feminism disavows all rights and privileges to men except at the wish of women-- women who choose the men based on how closely the men ape the political rhetoric.
I really did not mean to imply I prefer the right wing version. I've never shot a gun, hate sports, etc.etc. I also DO admire, or have admired, a lot about typical lib things such as intellect, libertinism.
My problem is, I am centrist libertarian, less government, more freedoms, fiscal conservatism, rights for all. But I see corrosive man hatred as the most visible element emanating from the left for a generation now. I also see closed minded belligerence coming from the right, which is as bad or worse.
So where IS the good spot? After I wrote my last diatribe, I mean, posting, I realized that is why I am so attracted to liberal women who are also deeply respectful of letting men be the way the men want to be. I dream about women like that the rare occasions I actually come across them. To me, they are effervescence itself-- probably because for a woman to be that secure to let men be, she is confident herself.
The right wing version does at least have the virtue that EVERYONE will be a slave and men will not have the added insult of women being able to do whatever they like while men are slaves but it isn't worth it. Are you saying that you wouldn't care what kind of insane authoritarian theocracy you had to live under as long as it oppressed women as well as men? That would be kind of like the women who, apparently, are ok with the idea of living under and anti choice authoritarian theocracy as long as they don't have the added insult of men exercising any authority in it.
No, and again, I am for Ron Paul, less to no government except for the minimum of maintaining the borders and the roads and some rudimentary services.
I don't think liberals are by definition elitists. There's a lot of elitist folks who are conservative, and a lot of liberals who were simply hard-working people who realized who was on their side. Any supporting evidence?
They think they are better than you are.
That, to me, defines 'elite' more than anything. It is a very repulsiuve stance to me and only acts like a strong wind to continually push me away from liberals. I figure they must be wrong if it takes them so much effort to 'act' above others constantly.
Emotionally, I deal well with down to earth, unpretentious, simple people. I rarely come across such people who also happen to be liberal unless they are older.
