@ Jim (and Ondolette)
[Read the article: A new low of mindlessness for our media]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I was holding my breath all weekend waiting for the press, the Senate, the blogosphere, someone to jump with both feet on this "hidden" nugget, this get-out-of-jail-free card they're obviously trying to sneak past the legislators. My question: what happened with that? Did Ondelette get bad information (unthinkable)? Are we picking different battles? Was a mighty stink raised and I somehow missed it?
I knew something like this was in there somewhere, but hadn't had time to chase it down. Thanks for the hat-tip and the info....
Your very own "get out of jail free!" card....
Cheers,

[Read more letters about this article: Here][Tiberius]: Maybe [G]lenn will write another blog about stupid, evil, diabolical, warmongering, manichean, anyone who doesn't agree with him is.
Fixed a typo:
"Maybe [G]lenn will write another blog demonstrating at great length and with cites how stupid, wrongheaded, and/or hypocritical, the RW foamers, Dubya-sycophants, and their enablers are."
No charge.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let me get this straight, Air America is so bad that it's FLAGSHIP station won't carry it's own programming? Well then, I guess I owe you folks apologies for assuming that programming on Air America's FLAGSHIP station was actually affiliated with Air America. Especially, for morning drivetime. LOL.
So where's the apology? Are you apologising for "assuming" something, or for making a false statement of fact (assuming there's an apology to be found somewhere there)?
But I can see how Sh**ter might have been confoozed; after all, Armstrong's constant references to Air America on his show, the constant bumpers with "This is Air America radio", all the Air America folks filling in for him when he was off, and such would have confoozed even a high school grad.....

[Read more letters about this article: Here]U.S. Toll in Iraq Lowest in 8 Months
Some people might think that is cause for optimism. Apparently you don't. Who cares? Not me. Feel free to mope and whine to your hearts content. You are certainly in the right place for it.
Actually, same coalition rate as March, 2007:
http://icasualties.org/oif/
and one of the reasons that it "looks so good" is we're coming off a three month straight run of 100+ U.S. fatalities each month (while prior to the "surge", there was never more than a single month topping 100 in a row).
The overall picture (for those like Sh**ter too brain-dead for words):
http://services.alphaworks.ibm.com/manyeyes/view/S7ipIHsOtha6xKEJfaANH2-
doesn't look particularly encouraging in the trendlines. But Sh**ter prolly doesn't do "trendlines" either.
Even as is, July 2007 has been the bloodiest July so far in terms of fatalities since the war began.
But Sh**ter thinks that's a 'pretty picture'....

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sorry bud, wrong question. The correct one is "What would history and our world be like if WMD were used on the US?"
Typo there:
"Sorry bud, wrong question. The correct one is 'What would 747s and our world be like if pigs could fly?'"
There, all fixed up. No charge.

Binary thinking! It's the New Coke™!!!
And don't give me any of this sh*te with this mathemajikamal mumbo-jumbo about "P(x)*Cost(x)" either....

@ Frankly, My Dear
[Read the article: A new low of mindlessness for our media]
[Read more letters about this article: Here][Arne]: Even as is, July 2007 has been the bloodiest July so far in terms of fatalities since the war began.
Second bloodiest — 78 troops lost in July 2005. Still, casualties tend to be lower in both July and August. For those who have no idea what the area is like, it gets bloody hot there in the summer.
78 in June, 2005. 54 in July:
http://icasualties.org/oif/
At least that'e the source I have.
I'll agree with you that summer months seem to tend towards lower numbers, but I see nothing that looks strongly significant in there (but haven't cranked any stats on it). If so, then June, 2007 was truly hellish.
Regardless, the overall trend is not encouraging, despite what some eedjit here thinks, cherry-picking numbers (as he and "Bart" were doing on Unclaimed Territory a year and half or so back, only to have the next month's numbers blow up [figuratively, unfortunately] in their faces).
Cheers,
