[Read the article: "Fringe liberal bloggers"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Greenwald appears to be in pain over the "liberal" or "far left" label that he has earned so well. He wants to shed his fringe and outsider status and embrace the center where there are no political labels. But, first he must agree....
I see no evidence that Greenwald "wants to shed his fringe". It's morons like you that thought him "fringe" to begin with. That's your mistake and your problem, not his.
And WTF are you to dictate terms?
1. That conservatives are not congential idiots.
2. That political views can be a reflection of deeply-held religious or spiritual views.
3. That Israel is the best hope for peace in the Middle East, not Hamas, Hezbollah or Iran.
4. That suicide bombers are not freedom-fighters, they are killers.
5. That Amanda Marcote is a religious bigot and that John Edwards is a moron for hiring her....
...und so weiter....
Ahhhh, do I detect a bit of "binary thinking"/Manicheanism sneaking in? <*SNIFF! SNIFF!*> I smell a self-styled "conservative"....
Cheers,

Dead? Well, then, obviously al Qaeda...

[Read more letters about this article: Here][Glenn, from the post]: Nothing could be more boring to Tony Snow than the question of how many Iraqi civilians we have killed as a result of our invasion and occupation. His yawn is virtually audible. What could be less relevant than that? It is better if we do not know. We can just keep repeating over and over that we are "killing Al Qaeda" -- a "fact" which Michael Gordon and The New York Times will be happy repeatedly to re-inforce -- and we can ignore the rest.
We used to see this nonsense from "Bart" DePalma regularly; that all the Iraqis just luuuuuuvvvvv us, and that it's this "al Qaeda" that we're fighting; that we're just killing the furriners infiltrating Iraq and stirring up trouble. Complete balderdash, of course. But today, in a "respectable newspaper", I read a wire story that talks about U.S. troops killing "al Qaeda" in Baqouba and other places:
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2007/06/21/international/i070409D30.DTL
"It was the latest in a series of attacks as al-Qaida fights back as the U.S. intensifies operations against the terror network in Baghdad and elsewhere around the capital.
"A U.S. airstrike aimed at a booby-trapped house in one of the centers of those offensives, the Diyala provincial capital of Baqouba, missed its target and 'accidentally hit' another structure, wounding 11 civilians on Wednesday, the military said, adding the incident was under investigation.
"U.S. troops had cleared the area to destroy a house containing explosives believed placed by al-Qaida, but 'the bomb missed its intended target and struck another structure,' the military said. 'Reports indicate that 11 civilians were injured.'"
The story does use the phrase "al-Qaida in Iraq" in another place:
"Sulaiman Bek is about 100 miles north of the capital and just outside the border with Diyala province, where thousands of U.S. troops are engaged in an offensive against al-Qaida in Iraq."
But it's still us fighting the 9/11 Terraists.
Stenographers, the lot of them. U.S. military says so? Well, then, it must be. Dead? Well, then they were al Qaeda.
Pathetic.

The iggnerrent "Tiberius" said...
[Read the article: Face of a psychopath]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Helen and Glenn
What a great answer to Hannity and Colmes. You both agree that the bad guys are only bad because we made them that way.
What a steamin' load of CR*P!!!!
Neither of these people has said anything like that. The cowardly "Tiberius" ought to adopt a different nom de plume: "Don Quixote"....
Better trolls, please.

"Shooter042" is clueless...
[Read the article: Face of a psychopath]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And according to this site the Iraqi nuclear program didn't commence until 1988 with French and Soviet assistance.
Outside of the fact that the range date given you for U.S. aid included this date, I have one question: WTF did Israel bomb then in 1981?
Stoopid is as stoopid does.

That goes in the "careful what you ask for" bucket....

[Read more letters about this article: Here][Glenn]: Whoever it was who bitterly suggested that I do a show with Helen Thomas -- which, in turn, led someone else to suggest that I interview who her (it was pages and pages ago and I couldn't find it) - I really want to thank.
Upon reading that suggestion, I immediately e-mailed someone who works with me on research and the like to see if they could get in touch with her to do an interview to be published in transcribed form in Salon, and she said she'd be happy to and we scheduled it for tomorrow.
I'm very excited. Helen Thomas is awesome in her own very distinct way.
Wonderful! Look forward to seeing it. Sometime your detractors are your best help, eh?
Guess we'll have to thank them for their valuable input, eh?
Cheers,

Glenn: Thanks for the research....
[Read the article: Everyone we fight in Iraq is now "al-Qaida"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'd noted this too a couple threads back (in response to your passing reference to such).
It really does seem to be an "order from on high", and the press are eating it up like the good lap dogs they are.
People like "Bart" kept talking about "al Qaeda" in Iraq, but as noted by many, he (and the RNC Mighty Wurlitzer) was singing a song the maladministration didn't sing along to. But now the maladministration has decided, apparently, that the cupboard is bare and they have nothing else to use and nothing to lose. Yet the press eats it up. Feh!
Cheers,
