And at least one key reason for that distrust is both clear and compelling. Many Americans who more or less did trust the judgment of the country's most respectable media outlets were severely betrayed, when they supported an invasion of a sovereign country based exclusively on patently false claims that were uncritically though aggressively disseminated by the American press. For that reason, distrust of the media has been substantially heightened, and that is so particularly when it comes to stories -- like the ABC News one here -- that bolster the Bush administration's warnings of a "grave threat" posed by whatever country happens to be The New Nazi Enemy of the Month.

To top it off, even when there is attribution (even though personally anonymous), we have the spectacle of the maladministration, with the complicity of the MSM, purposefully disguising their bona fides, such as Libby asking to be referred to as a "former Hill staffer", as opposed to his (then) present position as a senior staffer in the maladministration. That goes beyond just an overzealous protection of "anonymity" to a complicity in deception.

    Cheers,

UPDATE IV: Amazing -- I never realized this before, but I now see that Brian Ross was, far and away, the journalistic leader and the real pioneer in trying to claim a connection between Saddam and the anthrax attacks (as well as between Saddam and the 9/11 attacks).

This is just more reason that Ross should come clean about his "sources". Maybe we'll be able to find out more (you know, like, true stuff?) about the anthrax attacks and the sequelae as well.....

So what do we have here? A closed eye to the Legislative branch usurping function of the Executive? Where is the clarion call of denouncing crimes(Logan Act)committed outside Constitutional limits? I call for investigations, impeachments, trials, and exposure of heinous actions.

Well, they would, you know, but they're busy working on the James Wilson indictments....

    ROFLMSO....

You're welcome to bring a debate, discuss, even argue, but cross the line by any of the things I stated before, and I will delete/edit portions of your comment because it is my website, my house, you come to my home, you respect the host.

Well, nice talking to ya, Jim. Seeing as you feel so strongly that way, I guess it's time for you to take your leave. Have fun in your own "home", and I'm sure you'll get along just fine with the visitors you allow there. Bye now.... Bye.... I said: "Bye". I mean it.

I see the sublte subversion of our values in many things, in kids movies, kids books, public tv, in the public schools....

I may be a recovering from any sort of problems yet I am NOT that problem. It is that distinction of the person and the acts. We have free will to chose how we live, even if you have tendencies to like the same sex, you can chose to not give into your desires....

Ted? Ted Haggard? Is that you? We're honoured....

    ROFLMAO.

Boy, Arne, that’s brilliant, did you come up with that all by yourself?

On the contrary, it was a very pedestrian observation. That you think it brilliant doesn't reflect highly on you. Now please leave.

And the way preferable to RWA is what exactly?

This is interesting stuff, let's hear about the ideal governing arrangement.

Ummm, lesse. Our choices are ... fascism, or something else. Alan, I'll take "something else" for $200....

World famous metaphysico-theologico-cosmolo-gogologist Nabalzbbfr informs us that (as revealed by his theoidiocy) divine providence has provided to us the best of all possible wars, and the best of all possible leaders.

Then he accuses us of being Panglossian.

Real good pun on the word "theodicy" there. Subtle on sooooo many levels here. I take my hat off to you, sir.

A good man can go to church, carry his bible, and know every verse and yet be lost as can be without having accepted Christ instead relies on doing good works to “earn” salvation but this leads to destruction....

This has got to be one of the stoopidest parts of the fundie rigamarole. You can be an axe-murdering pederast, but as long as you accept that Christ died for your sins instead of you (except he really didn't die, did he?, so what's the friggin' "sacrifice" happy Easter, yaknow...), you'll be given an aeternity in heaven. It's because we're all sinners, designed that way, yaknow, and we just can't help our occasional axe-murdering pederasty escapades. Wow, that's quite the deal.

... Don’t lump me into any prior experience with Christians you have had before, ...

Why not? (or more specifically, I'll lump you in with RW fundies I've run across). Because, you're just like all the stoopid fundies I've run across....

I do not believe that corporations are citizens, in my view only human beings can be citizens. Only citizens should have the right to influence government policy through the exercise of their franchise.

The argument is made sometimes that corporations are simply citizens acting in concert. So when they pierce the corporate veil and make the "owners" responsible for their actions, and put some accountability back into such "free associations", maybe I'll start thinking of whether corporations deserve the status of "personhood". The one-way door on accountability cuts off incentives for responsible behaviour (as does the gross dilution of each stakeholder's piece of the action).

    Cheers,
