I'm not worried
[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why? Because at $7/gal people will talk openly of insurrection. At $10/gal there will indeed be civil uprising and it will take all the troops in Iraq to come home and guard the gas stations. And then I will personally put an oil drilling bit through a polar bear if the alternative is Mad Max. And so will you.
-
I raised a similar point about speeders in France 10 years ago and how $5/gal (then) didn't change anything
[Read the article: Who pays the most for gas?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And 20 hippie communists rose up to virtually shit all over me for being a fascist. Apparently you can't say that high gas prices doesn't negatively impact driving styles. That is hippie gospel.
-
It used to be that sociopath moms weren't newsworthy
[Read the article: Could this week get worse for mothers?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It was assumed those fragile beast were prone to flipping out. Now what with equality you get your comeuppance just like everyone else. I don't think I've NOT read a story of some female teacher caught screwing some student repeatedly, every day for the past 2 or 3 weeks. I am woman, hear me.....moan?

27 is the new 18
[Read the article: I'm completely irresponsible and I live at home mooching off my parents]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So 21 is adolescence in America now. The incoming class @ NC State is told that barely a third of the students graduate in 4 years. 66% in 5, almost 80% in 5.5 years. My eldest, after screwing up coming home, doing a few wonderfully productive years in Community college - and don't let anyone fool you - now days the cores courses at CC are HARDER and higher quality than the menu plan of prereqs University shoves down everyone's throat - is on track to finish a 'hard' sciences degree in one more year (#6).
If that what it takes that's what it takes. Better to slog through and figure out what you want than to get 3/4ths of the way through drop out and do nothing.
-
So the solution to slacking is more slack?
[Read the article: I'm completely irresponsible and I live at home mooching off my parents]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No wonder that generation is so hopelessly confused. I look forward to an old age where no one can bother to keep the powerplants running and garbage trucks picking up the trash. I'm glad the LW feels a twinge of responsibility, you're SUPPOSED to feel a twinge of responsibility. That's what maturity is. All the people here who say "Follow yur heart, d00d!" are themselves slackers who are basically full of shit. So finish up what you have to do and move on from there. It used to be, in America, that parents would happily move mountains for their children to gain a leg up in life. When did that become a dirty word?

The report is out
[Read the article: What backroom conniving are Steny Hoyer and the Chris Carney Blue Dogs up to on FISA?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And the US is 15th in the world in broadband efficiency, speed, reach and cost. I'm not sure what being higher in the rankings would mean, but clearly this mess and that go hand in glove.
-
You have to consider that
[Read the article: Lawless in Guantánamo]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The US will in fact, with your complicity, keep as many of those people locked up for life w/o trial as they can. That's obvious.

Jeff Tweedy said it best
[Read the article: You are not your bookcase]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The greatest lost track of all time:
The Late Greats' "Turpentine"
You can't hear it on the radio
You can't hear it anywhere you go
The best band will never get signed
K-Settes starring Butcher's Blind
Are so good, you won't ever know
They never even played a show
You can't hear 'em on the radio
The greatest singer in rock and roll
Would have to be Romeo
His vocal chords are made of gold
He just looks a little too old
The greatest lost track of all time:
The Late Greats' "Turpentine"
I can't hear it on the radio
I don't hear it anywhere I go
The best song will never get sung
The best life never leaves your lungs
So good, you won't ever know
I never hear it on the radio
Can't hear it on the radio

Women don't hang themselves.
[Read the article: What happened to the D.C. Madam?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That in and of itself should prick up the cops ears. Women use pills, occasionally a gun but rarely hang themselves.
-
Yes taxes here are lower
[Read the article: Who pays the most for gas?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But conversely we're also several orders of magnitude larger than any European country or Japan. People really DO drive much more.
-
I'm happy I missed this when it was posted.
[Read the article: Jewish supporters fundraising for pro-Obama ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I didn't waste any time pointing out typical 'liberal' progressive antisemitic bigotry. Did you know that Hamas TV is running a commentary that states categorically that Jews secretly plotted the Holocaust? I can't wait for the Saloniks to chirp in to quietly agree with that one. Once again the supersecret 2% of the US population that secretly controls the government, banks, all media warrants a column and a hatefest from the fine upstanding brie munching assholes of Salon.
Yestderday you were all in a tizzy about Canandian border passage and suggested that different passports might be the answer. Well I already have mine. I figure we're about 5 years away from a liberal progressive pogrom in this country.
-
Or it could be that
[Read the article: The sex that plays fair?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No one cares about the outcome of a D-2 Softball game. No one's money or career is on the line.
-
Just send that $1000 to the public university system in my state
[Read the article: Obama ad hits Clinton on gas tax again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm a little tired of hearing that if we don't help the bottom rung we won't can't and shouldn't accomplish anything. Gasonline isn't going to break me. But 3 college tuitions, at public university might.
-
Blame the audience not the message
[Read the article: Jewish supporters fundraising for pro-Obama ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It can't possibly be that Obama does a poor job of spinning his message to people who aren't already hypnotized. No. There HAS to be something wrong with all the Jews who refuse to get, those stiff necked bastards! I knew there was something off about them.

Does this every other chunk of software will now have an MS toolbar opt out on installation?
[Read the article: Microsoft almost certainly going hostile on Yahoo, unless it's not]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm sick of Yahoo! toolbars installing by default.
-
When was the last time you found a successful politician call a tax cut a bad thing during an election
[Read the article: Clinton responds to gas tax attacks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Seriously, people. When was that?
-
So that's the explanation for JJ Abrams.
[Read the article: Watch "The Love Guru": Go to hell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Watch Cloverfield gouge your own eyes out.
-
Yes all 13-14000 Jewish voters in Indiana. THAT's the terrible problem you all have to discuss
[Read the article: Jewish supporters fundraising for pro-Obama ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Whereas really, you have a problem with EVERYONE not huffing Obama paint.
http://www.forward.com/articles/13293/
And to the raving hate filled psychopaths here, NO, The Forward is about as far left as any mainstream Jewish publication and it has been for more than a century. If that's not 'reliable' enough for you then you are insane and no one needs to bother to listen to the voices in your heads.

BryanS
[Read the article: Clinton responds to gas tax attacks]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Successful, you need to actually wait for this election, unless you believe this is American Idol.
