Salon readers naturally assume they're all 5000sqft palaces
[Read the article: Overbuilt America]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]But you don't know that. It's equally likely that it's the typical ubiquitous L.I. Ranch Home circa 1967 since those property values are astronomical. Or it could be in Compton, CA where parts of that funhouse have median values in the Mid-$400K's.
You really need to disabuse yourselves of this fake overall and pipewrench class warfare nonsense. Housing problems cut across all strata.

So it's 'be liberal' or up the chimney with ya?
[Read the article: Taking back the debate over Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gee where have I heard that national socialist warning before?
-
Well you've all pretty much let the masks drop haven't you
[Read the article: I was wrong about Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You're all pretty much a hateful racist bigoted ignorant pile of snakes, in your own ways. I hate all of you for what you are, for who you are and what you're not.

Actually Hamas was formed from the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt
[Read the article: Taking back the debate over Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]while Hezbollah was formed with Syrian and Iranian help, to establish a Shiite militant beachhead in perennially unstable Lebanon in the wake of their civil war and the rise of the political strength of the Druze and Maronite Christian political factions between 1975 and 1979 - the peak of the civil war there. See after Jordan threw out the PLO in 1970 they migrated to southern Lebanon and began to do what they always do - foment a war. But they were solidly in the pocket of the Soviets then and not considered either politically reliable nor sufficiently religious by the Shiite factions in Lebanon.
Hamas was orginally founded as a so called social welfare organization and flew under the radar for several years until the Oslo accords. Hamas decided it couldn't abide by Arafat's conciliation with Israel and took a different tack - suicide bus bombings between 1994 and 2000 that claimed the lives of about 900 Israelis.

I think he should gather up his chips when he wins
[Read the article: What should Obama do about Rev. Jeremiah Wright?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And give Rev Wright a formal official position in the Obama White House. Say an advisor on Black Issues/Race Relations. Or a new Cabinet position even. Congress will so cowed at the possibility of being labeled racist they'll ramrod his approval through. I can't see anything wrong with that plan.

Rev Wright
[Read the article: Obama responds to Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The angry guilty white liberal progressive candidate for President. We called Hugo Chavez, the President of Iran and the Nation of Prislam, but none of them were available for speaking tours.

"...I would join Hamas"
[Read the article: Taking back the debate over Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You still can I think. I don't believe they're that exclusive on that point. Though being (Sunni) Muslim & having a facility in Arabic certainly will give you a leg up. I think if you contact the American university in Cairo and are very very careful about it, because Egypt tends to disappear Muslim Brotherhood types, I bet you could find the right contacts.

[Read the article: What should Obama do about Rev. Jeremiah Wright?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]No, clearly he's playing rock paper scissors.

I sounds like ordinary bossiness
[Read the article: Mmm, I could go for some Kingsford briquettes about now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Just run out and get some oven mitts, NOW, you bastard!!!

so then I am puzzled why seemingly obscure political events lever the price so much
[Read the article: The education of an oil reporter]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If it's just peak oil peak oil peak oil then why is it political, and more often financial speculative events drive the price in seemingly random directions. You can't have it both ways.

Natalie Portman changed my life
[Read the article: Reviews: "Grand Theft Auto IV" will change your life]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Listening to her curse in Arabic, my life has never been the same.

Desigirl
[Read the article: Taking back the debate over Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I don't know if you are or are not. that's your issue. What I do know is that Israel trucks in ~300 tractor trailer truckloads of supplied to Gaza each week including 1.5 million liters of fuel oil that has been suddenly sequestered by Hamas and locked up. I do know that Israel provides 75% of all of Gaza's electricity for free from their own powerplant in Ashkelon which is frequently fired upon, shelled by the very people they are delivering the electricity to. I do know that that the Egyptian army is building their own fence along the Philidelpi corridor to stop the flow of arms and people across the border. I do know that that Israel 2 weeks ago expanded the day work permit program from 15,000 permits/day to 50,000/day. I do know that the entire border of the West Bank and Jordan is utterly unguarded and open and the Allendy Bridge checkpoint between Jordan and the West Bank is completely controlled by Jordan which turns away about 1500 Palestinians per day from crossing into Jordan. I do know that the PA yesterday sentenced a 25 year old man to death by firing squad for relaying information to the IDF that resulted in the deaths of 4 armed men who were attempting to blow up a school in the West Bank. I don know that in the last 18 months 8300 rockets have fallen on Israel. I do know that the 50% lethality radius of a Palestinian 81mm mortar round is about 100 meters and that yesterday 17 of them were randomly fired into civilian neighborhoods in Sderot. I do know there is a contingent of American Special Forces lead by an American General in the West Bank training and arming 30,000 Palestinian paramilitary police.

[Read the article: Taking back the debate over Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Where do you get this stuff? I don't even know where to start to untangle that ignorance. 2000 of no state = nationalism? Wow that's crazy even by Salon standards.

so it's nonrational pricing and so called peak oil is therefore meaningless
[Read the article: The education of an oil reporter]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We're agreed, thanks.

the Saloniks who claim to have turned their TV's into bongs around 1979 are the same people who
[Read the article: Reviews: "Grand Theft Auto IV" will change your life]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Are complaining that games are Teh Devul. I've got news for the SuperHelicopter Parents. Not a single child I have ever known showed the least interest is having "The Polar Express" read to them, ever. Caldicott award or no. So called high art books for children are really for parents to tell one another about.

I'd still like to hear their positions on anything
[Read the article: Taking back the debate over Israel]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Anything concrete, substantial, at all, about anything. Negotiate with Syria? Already being done. Negotiate with the Hamas? Already being done albeit indirectly. Remove checkpoints? 44 out of the 50 agreed to last week taken down. Increase day work permits? Done. Continue to send free goods and services into Gaza? Done. Moving the Security fence? Work in progress from stretching over 9% of pre 1967 "Palestine" to 4%. Sending $450 million in aid to the PA (temporarily suspended) http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/gi_0199-5405269/U-S-EU-halting-450.html
Seems that anything that varies from the official Hamas/PA demands of unlimited repatriation, and a free hand in waging war without end would not sit well with J-Street given all the other things that are going on now w/o them. Though I'm willing to listen to anything at all material they have to say about anything.
I await their pearls of wisdom, Gary.

Rev Wright vs. Clarence Thomas in a cage match to the death
[Read the article: What should Obama do about Rev. Jeremiah Wright?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I can't think of a more fitting end to both of them.
