Alan Lloyd
[Read the article: FedEx bets on the California sunshine]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]That's a silly argument. Do people NEED knee surgery at age 70? Do they NEED to own a car when they could strand at the bus stop? Do they NEED chewable vitamins, pap smears and purebred dogs? Do they NEED a 5 day work week?
We could propose a ban on all freestanding homes and force people to live in apartment complexes as part of our de-ruralfication program. Romania did this quite aggressively during the Ceaucescu era. Or we could outlaw families with more than 2 children.
Sure these sound insane (I hope) but the point is, uninventing something is silly.

5656...
[Read the article: Ladies, fight rape with ankle bracelets]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Except that most people killed with a gun in their own home are killed with their own gun. So the odds say you'd get raped and then killed in your own home. Me? I'm a fan of the liberal application of violence where it's warranted. But I really don't want armed people running around settling domestic disturbances on their own.

[Read the article: Obama rules the Pennsylvania airwaves]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]In truth, no. I hear people talking about it. But 10 minutes with the TV on and it's just retarded nonsense. NC is up next and the only ads on air now are Obama ads, and not very many of them. I have to say they're very polished. Like a consumer product. Very tight and an inch deep. They are Obama talking about taking back something or other and an overdub of a crowd cheering. I'm sure that he will carry Orange county, Chapel Hill and parts of Charlotte and Durham huge. But I suspect that Clinton will carry every other district overwhelmingly.
-
????
[Read the article: Networks say Clinton will win Pennsylvania]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]NC has had a SINGLE statewide Black office holder since Reconstruction. He was voted out in 2004. Obama may carry Chapel Hill, Durham, Orange county and part of Charlotte but Clinton will carry the rest of the state.
-
So our next President will be chosen by unelected unaccountable 'super' people
[Read the article: Burden on superdelegates gets even heavier]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gee that's nice to know.
-
In other words American foreign policy is American foreign policy
[Read the article: Bateman: Under Hillary's nuclear umbrella (ella ella)]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Gee I dunno, maybe it's a little like our 55 year presence in Korea and and open policy that an invasion of the South by the North will be met with force. Likewise Japan. Likewise a nuclear carrier group in permanent stand-off between Taiwan and China. Likewise our 55 year presence in Germany, Italy, UK, Belgium, Norway, Greenland.....
But, you know, those inscrutable Jews - they control everything.
-
And in today's Doompocalypse News
[Read the article: Japan's unwanted low-fat diet]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You've become quite the prophet of doom haven't you? Every day reads like Nostradamus now.
-
Not in NC
[Read the article: Will Obama shift his focus to McCain?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Casting a Democratic vote for President in NC is at best, symbolic.
-
So why bother at all?
[Read the article: Burden on superdelegates gets even heavier]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Our next President will be manufactured from a series of backroom deals with a few hundred unelected, unaccountable, often unknown superdelegates. Everything else is stagecraft.
-
Your vote is meaningless
[Read the article: So, what's next?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The next President will be decided by a bunch of back room deals with a few hundred murky unknown superdelegates aka machine hacks who, when they DO make themselves known, openly tell you that they're switching their votes to whomever they like regardless of what you think.
I don't know what planet you people live on, but this looks a lot like election rigging, fraud and bullshit fake machine politics that you see in Africa and those other places liberals like to imagine they'll vacation in some day.

Clash of the Titans
[Read the article: Know any OB/GYNs who want to move to Italy?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Islam vs. The Vatican. Neither of them wants legal abortions for their own reasons.

Alkaline
[Read the article: Japan's unwanted low-fat diet]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I tend to think of news as news. But based on your comment I can see why the endless whining is so popular. The past present and future are all shit. Everything sucks. We should kill ourselves but then who would be left to compost the corpses.

[Read the article: Will Obama shift his focus to McCain?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What do I know? Oh I dunno. I live there. zipcode 27615. look it up.

A half carat ring for $800 is junk
[Read the article: Too bad to keep, too good to hock]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Sell it to a pawn shop.
-
Google docs
[Read the article: What the hell is Microsoft's Live Mesh?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Ok Google docs is pretty pokey and the formatting controls are primitive. But better than worrying about the perennial 3-way sync delete problem is simply to have one source one place one time.
-
Knock it out of its setting
[Read the article: Too bad to keep, too good to hock]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and put it in your nose. or, if its big enough, your navel.

My Salonatron 3000 Bong Bot
[Read the article: Does a vagrant-fighting "bum bot" give robots a bad name?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Will get high and protest your Bum Bot furiously.

Major exporters have no incentive but to manipulate pricing
[Read the article: The Washington food crisis consensus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Rice exporters Vietnam and Thailand are the world's biggest rice exporters. As such they have zero incentive to restrict exports in a price-tight market but for to further drive the price up and create a panic. It's akin to Saudi Arabia deciding tomorrow that oil isn't expensive enough and taking 20% of its production offline. That's not indicative of a supply problem or even a capital problem. It's indicative of an oligopoly or a cartel arbitrarily setting the price how and when it suits them.
-
I honestly couldn't tell the difference
[Read the article: Passing back the baton]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The world is coming an end, everything sucks, the people who are not exactly like us are Hitler squared on plutonium. Someone's to blame for all of this; the usual suspects.

It would be arch
[Read the article: The GOP on the verge of imploding]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If the Democrat's arrogance and general sense they are entitled to the Presidency w/o so much as an election, at this point doesn't come back to bite them in November. Then reports of the GOP's demise will seem quaint, their books in the torn-off-cover bin.
More than anything else at this point, it seems that the GOP isn't running at all. Bush has checked out, no one's in charge, no one in the admin cares and everyone's just waiting for their last day on the job. It will appear that the Dems snatched defeat, or blame, once again with their utter lack of any progress since their win in 2006 and worse, since 2007 with effectively NO American Executive Branch at all to oppose them.

Most American women are obese
[Read the article: Skip breakfast, skip having a son?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So why aren't there mostly boys born?
-
Their problem is obvious
[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]DeAndre Miller has no swing, no balance. If he hits pitch over 85mph that's on the black, it' an accident. But if you're 25 and playing the equiv of Legion Ball then that's pretty much as far as you will go. I give them credit for sticking with it though, it's amazing they haven't been seriously injured.

This sounds like a video game
[Read the article: Turn down that thermostat, permanently]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The earth is running out of oil. the few countries left with it are caught in the midst of global war. America of course is the evil bad guy. This sounds like that awful movie "Southland Tales".
Tell you what, you go live in teepee, tell us how that checks out.
